REALISTIC EXPECTANCIES FOR THE SEASON UNDER MARTNEZ

As other have said, until we see who comes & goes its a bit difficult to judge. Certainly the teams above us will spend more than us, so you'd think improving on league position was a big ask. The ****e will continue to spend, so they will be hoping to push above us. Can't see any of the other teams really kicking on past us, but there is always 1 or 2 surprise packages - they could push us for seventh.

8th & not knocked out of any cups by teams lower than us in the league will be acceptable. Europe (realistically EL) via any route (CC, FA Cup final, 7th+) will be a good season. There are a number of other achievements on top (without winning silverware) of which would make it a very good season
  • Top 5 (higher than any 1 of the current top5)
  • Trip to Wembley (FA semi or CC Final)
  • Eye catching football
  • Plenty of minutes for youth players

A trophy or 4th would obviously be an excellent season. Personally can't see fourth due to the financial gap. You can't be sure of anything in a cup competition (draw, injury, luck) but equally nobody else will enjoy seeing our name coming out of the hat...

Back in Europe through whatever route. I think it will be a fairly tough first season for him so if we get into Europe and show enough that our top players want to stay and we can attract decent players next summer I'll be happy. It's going to be a tough transition for players who have had Moyes as manager for a long time so I can't see them hitting the ground running. Hope I'm wrong though.

The three things I would say a minimum for me:

1. Attractive football - I want to see us get rid of these "long diagonals" and keep the ball on the ground with great link up all around the ground.
2. Finish Higher than the R/S.
3. Top half finish

That is the minimum I want from martinez this term but I know he will achieve better. COYB!

Now we have a manager installed and the fixtures have been released as fans we are thinking ahead to the new campaign. For me personally, I believe Roberto is the right man for the job and I would never compare him to David Moyes.
We must go for silverware albeit being the League Cup, but silverware at our great club is definitely a must and lets hope it comes soon. The league position? I would settle for a top 8 finish but the higher the better. The FA Cup would be great if Roberto could retain that special trophy for the Everton blue as he did only weeks ago.

Unless he can learn to organise a defence we are going to be in big trouble.

I am very unhappy with his appointment, which is so typical of Kenwright in its lack of ambition and imagination. Now that he is here I support him, obviously, but he is here by "virtue" of a moribund, arrogant and dishonest board of directors.

I just think that adapting to a new manager might mean we drop some points and finish a bit lower

It happens from time to time when a new manager comes in to a club

Small clubs do. Spurs, RS, Chelsea don't. We shall not tolerate this. Top 7 is minimum requirement.
