First season for Bobby.
I will give him time.
Just give us new exciting players, entertaining footy and derby win. I except positions 6-10 (season 2014-2015 we will take euro/CL)

If Martinez will lead us to euro games this season he is a freaking messiah in me eyes. cmoon Roberto! coyb

If we can retain our 6th place trophy that would be alright. Hopefully top 4 teams will win the League and FA Cups so we can qualify for the Europa Leage.

Although, my personal target never changes, win a cup (or at least get knocked with dignity / not bricking it).

Sign a quality striker and a good midfielder and I'd be expecting us to improve on last year. However if we mess about like a bunch of plums, leave all our business until the last 10 minutes of the transfer window and replace our better players with inferior ones then we will regress.

Martinez's task is simple: do what Moyes did. That means keeping us comfortably in the top half of the table (whilst playing with a bit more attacking intent - an upgrade in that respect).

Despite the Billy Liar 'CL' slip, that's what the board will be happy with and that, pretty much, is what's humanly possible for any manager faced with working for them whilst an elite of 5 clubs have the top places locked up.

I still think he's not up to the job. We will be fighting relegation. Watch out.:-(

The current players aren't going to suddenly start playing that badly.

It's like saying 'Man Utd are suddenly going to start finishing 5th and 6th because Moyes is now in charge'.

Just not going to happen. Martinez is capable, he's no Steve Kean type figure. He did win the FA Cup, he's not an idiot.

It'll surprise me if he can get us into the Champions League, the gulf in spending power is widening every season. We lack the spending ability to turn last seasons draws into wins to get that Champions League place.

So, realistic expectations is a cup win. On our day when everyone plays to their best, we can realistically beat any team in the League, we've done it in the League before and we can do it again, we've beaten City, Chelsea, Utd, Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal and I think that's where we can excel under Martinez, in one off cup games.

hate to say this but i think the ****e may finish above us next year, unless suarez goes

Hard to answer this.

Moyes set up was respectable Prem survival possibly his choice of player not capable of much more (hence the cups and sky 4 "away" guff) so if Martinez is genuinely ambitious it could mean wholesale change. Not able to go out and buy a new team from day 1 a la QPR takes us to xmas.

Hopefully the existing squad will adapt and thrive but you only have to look at Liverpool perhaps understandably they have regressed in their first BR season but have learned their lesson and are not doing another "woy".

Personaly I'm just glad "we" (Everton FC) are trying another way I hope RM performs a miracle and cures all the old ills in his first week but I'm quite prepared to support him all the way as long as the signs are he's trying to improve the things we all know need improving.

Gotta be given the benefit of a full season come what may.

....much will depend on who comes and goes. I reckon 7th is a reasonable benchmark but that opinion might change depending on the market. Still have a feeling for an Everton/Man Utd FA Cup Final with us coming out on top. Its written in the stars.
