REALISTIC EXPECTANCIES FOR THE SEASON UNDER MARTNEZ

Didn't take him a decade to hit 6th and he had a far worse team when he took over. No reason at all we should do worse or become useless in order to get better. If we do then we lose money and therefore players and the transition will be from where we are to average pretty quickly.
Sadly we cannot afford the Rogers way of doing things as we cannot cover the costs of a transitional league finish.

I said points tally, not place.

I detect your passive aggressiveness toward the new manager, tbh.

Expectations for me that are realistic, is that after a settling in period results are on a par at least with what we have had for the past few years but with a more pleasing style, first season thats all im hoping for, if that happens then the second year is when he can start the season with the team being his rather than inherited. thats when expectations raise higher, although a LOT depends what happens with finances and transfer budgets, if hes allowed to spend say the majority of the tv money then id expect to see a improvement gradually as the signings start to bed in.

Id take 7th with a win over the any of the sky4 away, or any cup final, just as it shows an improvement in a area moyes had weaknesses in

Anything below 7th in the league will be a disappointment as we have the players to achieve that and most of the other teams are gash bar last seasons top 5 and Liverpool will prob improve slightly. We do need a forward though or we'll struggle for goals. Not expecting to win a cup but would be nice to top the season off.

He doesn't get Everton yet (and why would he), and that's showing in his excited verbals. I think next season is going to be quite difficult, Everton are probably the best drilled team in the prem, now
Minus the driller and all his staff. The team Davey has left is good but not young and would have needed major changes with Moyes staying. I think the next two years will see us drop a bit down to mid table, but is till think we've got the right man to put us in a good place a couple of years from now once he's got his own team in.

Not at all, just don't see why you would claim it took Moyes a decade to achieve enough points to reach 6th when he did that several times before that, its a very strange comment that makes no sense.

I detect your inability to see clearly when Moyes is mentioned in a post. Please tell me what I posted that was negative or aggressive, or anti Martinez in any way.

To be fair mate, he said it took Moyes 10 years to achieve 63 points not 6th. That's how I read it anyway

Points don't really matter though its league position that counts... I mean if you had 90 points but finished 2nd you wouldn't consider it more of an achievment than having 89 points and winning the league would you.

I think seventh is about right but I could cope with 10th . Martinez will have the foundations set he just has to do his bit . A couple of additions now and we could have a boost of confidence like we did when gibbo Pienaar and jelavic came . Also kev and Gibson should be fully fit . Kev would have had time to adapt and this season he can show how he will shine

If you want a realistic aim then it should be top 10. First season at the club, there's an obvious need for time to adjust. Especially if Martinez wants to implement a drastic change to how we approach games.

People lamented our brand at football at times under Moyes but I think it's what got the best out of the players.

Fifth or Sixth come Xmas but then a massive slide down the table. Finish something like 13th or 14th.

As I keep saying , people are gonna start realising how good Moyes was.

I don't get this 'happy to be in the top ten' in his first season stuff. It's all about expectation, I'm sure Utd fans aren't saying they'd be happy with top four in Moyes' first season, they will demand to be up at the top. The players should be looking back on last season thinking they threw away enough points to comfortably finish in the top four, and next season is a chance to improve.
