REALISTIC EXPECTANCIES FOR THE SEASON UNDER MARTNEZ

Can't see us slipping outside the top seven so a good cup run and just play some positive footy

I can if we don't improve the first XI and add squad players.

We've lost Mucha, Neville and Hitzlsperger. We'll need to replace all three in some sense on the bench. All the teams around us have improved or will improve.

We're really going to struggle squad wise next season if we don't add significantly, 5-6 new players would suffice. Unless Martinez is confident in promoting 2 academy players to the bench like Lundstram and Long. But we'll still need to improve the starting XI and I really can't see the same XI last season doing as well next season.

we should finish no worse than 6th. otherwise we have a right to ask is this club going in the right direction / does Bill know what he's doing ?

If we finished anything lower than 7th I would be very disappointed. That would mean the likes of West Brom or Swansea finishing above us, which would be a failure considering the quality of our squad.

A lot depends on who we bring in and who we lose but realisticaly we shouldn't be finishing lower than 7th.

I think the aim should be signing the 3/4 players to improve the first 11 and the bench/squad will then look after its self.

I think around 50-55 points is realistic in the first season.
Anything less would be disappointing, anything more would be an excellent start given the huge disruption to our coaching set up.

Few good signings, some good football, some good showings in big games, a cup run and a respectable top 8 finish.

Over to you Roberto.

I am being perfectly honest, I hope we stay in the league.

Top half will do me providing we are building constructively to finish higher within our means the following seasons whilst playing entertaining football.
The board ought to back him now substantially (he was afterall their choice) and i'd like to think therefore top 6, but we know who they are...

This.

I know everyone hates the term, but it is a transitional season for us. I dont think the squad will be anywhere near like the same come August and we have a new manager with different ideas to bed in.

Top half finish, finishing the season well with the prospect of kicking on next season, and a strong showing in either one or both of the cups. That'd be acceptable under the circumstances.

He will improve but he hasn't even met his squad yet to assess where. Once he gets a closer look he will know more what is required I think.

Anything less than top 7 is unacceptable baring in mind what players we lose and who we bring in. Would like to see the league cup taken more seriously and also go on a decent run in the fa cup.

I'll be disappointed if we finish outside the top six, hopefully, the air of pessimism on here will diminish if we get a few early results. I was cheesed off with finishing sixth last season, I hope the club were. If we can turn at least half of those draws into a mixture of wins and the odd defeat, top four should be our aim. This is a huge summer for the club re transfers, I would like us to get most of the big decisions made sooner rather than later, not holding my breath like. Personally, I couldn't give a toss what other clubs do, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Stay positive guys, it's on! Onwards and upwards blues.

I thik top 6 is a pipe dream, tbh. Nice if it happens, but a bit too much to ask Martinez to run up a points tally it took Moyes a decade in the job to achieve.

If you don't have a dream, you achieve nothing. I got really fed up of Moyes portraying Everton as a plucky little also ran, I'm looking forward (hopefully) to a more positive approach from Martinez, and see what effect it has on the club as a whole.
