REALISTIC EXPECTANCIES FOR THE SEASON UNDER MARTNEZ

With talk of Baines and Fellaini looking likely to leave and incomings as Kone, Alacarez, McGeady, Redmond, we are not gonna be the team we was last season that was consistent at home. I don't like the look of the teamsheet already.

If we lose both Baines and Fellaini I think i'd be pleased with a top half finish and a decent run in one of or both cup competitions.

Baines going will put a huge wrecking ball through our plans. I wouldn't think we'll slip outside the top half though...always depending on what Martinez receives by way of a transfer kitty.

Hard to say at the moment... squad could look very different come late August. Top 10 should be minimum requirement though.

Firstly I will give him time.

Worst case scenario is imo that we will have a season a bit like Villa had
More realistical scenario might be position around 6-10th.

As a eternal optimist I hope Roberto can bring us cup runs and derby win. Euro place would be utterly immense

Osman from today's Echo:

One of the Blues’ longest serving players, 345-match Leon Osman, says he is looking forward to welcoming new team-mates and is relishing the extra competition for places.

“Every new manager likes to bring in some of his own players,” he said. “It will be beneficial for us to strengthen the team and make it better. I’m looking forward to seeing who he will bring in.”
Osman is also eagerly awaiting an opportunity to learn a little more about Martinez’s football philosophy.
“Of course I’m looking forward to seeing how he wants us to play,” he added. “I think the way we have developed as a team over the last few years and the way we have attacked, it made sense to bring the manager in here.
“The way he likes his teams to play and the way we have been going about it so far, it seems like a great match.
“I was very happy when we found out it was him. With so many clubs having new managers it will be interesting to see how the new season pans out. It will be interesting to see what new styles and systems maybe come into the those teams, and which sides gel first and come out the blocks quickest. I have met the new manager. He seems a really nice guy and from what I have seen he is already working as hard as he can to make this great club better.
“It’s just known that when a manager leaves he takes his backroom staff with him, so its not just one face that leaves its up to six or seven. On the other side of it, a new manager brings in new faces with him. There has been a summer of big changes at the club but I don’t think it will change what we are and we are made up of and the spirit that we have had here. We have had that over all these years and I don’t think that will change.”

I should hope not. This team should be top 7 at least and even that would be a slight disappointment, given the quality of the squad and probable net spend.

I think all our predictions need to probably be held back until we know exactly what the squad is for the season.

If two players of the quality and importance of Baines and Fellani leave we'd find it very difficult replacing them.

I will make my punt , when the transfer window is closed. Then on the basis of who's in and who's out , I will make my decision.

But it will be no worse than Mid -Table methinks.

At this time the fan-base is fractured on Martinez and it,s the same on twitter, forums and everywhere else till the season kicks off.

I cannot state the importance of getting off to a good start in the 1st month with a new manager whatever his new squad. The first 10 matches will polarize the fan-base on Martinez on way or another but we have to get off to a good start because we have some real sticky patches later with the fixtures.

At the moment I feel as though it's going to be a long, hard season, but that could change depending on how Martinez sells and buys.

worst we will finish is 7th.

win the carling cup.

But since ive started anger management i am an eternal optimist and always think positively...

But for me Martinez saya everything i want to hear, no talk of lets get 40 points, its more lets get CL than lets stay up.

I follow Alan Myers on twitter and he met him yesterday and was waxing lyrical over him, said hes inspirational and exciting.

Players seems to feel the same and i honestly cannot wait for the season to start

Oh, I agree. I am optimistic, but if we sell Baines, certainly, Martinez has a tough task on his hands. We could handle losing Felli, imo, as we'd get a huge wedge and shift our top earner. Until then though, things look pretty good.

He HAS been POSITIVE and it is refreshing to see him get closer to the fan base but he is employed to be the cheerleader for the club/Owner and if he sugarcoats the fans,s feedback to Bill from the fan-base then nothing changes.

Suntan Bob is trouble for me. He should be moved on asap.

Almost disbelief if you mean Martinez which i can only assume you do?

Are you seriously ****ing suggesting that we turn into a shambles of a club and sack a manager before his team has even turned up for pre season?

Or we give him 5 games then sack him?

And get who in btw? A top European manager willing to work on our non existant transfer budget?

Stay off the crack pipe you moron
