... and that’s now; if this gets in all it will take is six votes to change it.

One also notes that nowhere there does it say how the money for PPV will be split up; if it gets in we will no doubt all be told that United should get the lions share of the PPV receipts for Burnley vs United, and as Burnley won’t have a vote to vote against it then the PL are likely to agree.

In that situation, wouldn’t each club just pocket however much they take in through their own platform? So if Burnley sold 10k subscriptions on their website at £5 each they would get £50k, and Man U sold 500k subscriptions on their website at £20 (or whatever extortionate fee they settled on) then they pocket £10M. It’s definitely the rich getting richer, and actually probably MUCH worse than United simply asking for something like a 75/25 split.

well no - under that scenario the away team would have to have its own cameras etc.

God, they really have spent a lot of time and effort on drawing up proposals that will hopefully be dismissed straight away

Always knew he was a snake.

Kinda snakish. But the monetary value is the selling point that not many can argue is a bad thing. It's the concessions it's based on.

No one is asking the reason WHY those changes in the structure of the premier league are needed. Are they saying that in order to increase the funding to the EFL 2 clubs have to leave...and the longest serving clubs dictate how the league is ran?

Absolute horsey poo

Thats the point that has got alarm bells ringing at Sky

I would think that Villa 25/27 seasons in PL and a longest spell of 25 years would have a slightly better case than City who have 18/27 and LS of 13 years. Newcastle might also want to consult their lawyers with 21/27 and LS of 16 versus West Ham with 19/27 and LS of 10......

My understanding, and the way I read it, was that the criteria used was longest stay since the team were last promoted (in the cases where they've previously been relegated from the prem) rather than years spent in the prem in total since it was originally formed. Villa have only just come up and Newcastle were down relatively recently and not for the first time either.

Never thought I’d be posting a Martin Samuel piece in the Mail, but he is spot on here:

Conn should be ashamed of himself

"Those nine clubs are to be afforded ‘long-term shareholder status’, would have unprecedented power, even able to veto new owners at other Premier League clubs, decide on the chief executive"

Rick Parry backs what Man U and the RS have put forward, hmmmmm...............promise of a job I wonder.

6 in the champion league. Omg that would be terrible

I think that's basically what is being pushed, the champions league will have 8 groups of 6, they each play each other twice, top 2 go through to the last 16, place 3 and 4 will drop into the Europa league and 5 and 6 will drop into the new European conference (new cup winners cup).

Premier league will probably still only get 7 European places, it will just be 6 champions league and 1 Europa league.
