'Project Big Picture'

This statement is patently the reaction to this proposal from the other 18, as the PL is nothing more than a collective of the 20 clubs.

Noted that they give Parry the Kopite a coating as well.

Snide as hell.

Rick Parry (ex-Liverpool chief) fully in support of the proposals.
I have just seen the article and to be honest I'm not in the least bit surprised.
The first thing that came to mind was are we in the top nine clubs they mention.

"top nine" is a big lie as well - they only need six votes to do anything, so our vote would have the same effect as the nine other PL clubs who won't have votes

Fancy 2 US owned clubs putting league change proposals in as if it were the MLB or NFL

Top 9 serving clubs would be -
Arsenal
United
Everton
Spurs
Liverpool
Chelsea
Villa
Man City
Newcastle

Also, would it reduce the allowed champions League/Europa spots due to a reduced league?
American sports would never have a power grab as brazen as this.

This is exactly why top level professional football is a busted flush nowadays.
It's just pure greed. It never stops and it never will. The PL and the American
owners who run it effectively want to turn it into an NFL style of operation.
Any enjoyment has been and is being sucked out of the game by this non stop
grab for money. Just where will it end?
This is nothing like the NFL

The 2 American owners are pretty 'cheap' in their respective Stateside sports, happy to rarely put their money in to be competitive. Theyre looking at this, as others have pointed out, as a means to remain relevant whilst being swallowed up by a tide of rich owners

I could see this happening, reducing the premier league to 18 teams and only having the teams not in europe involved in the league cup, devaluing that even further. This would support the expansion of the champions league, to groups of 6 instead of 4. This would probably give the premier league 6 places in this competition and 1 in the Europa Conference league (via the Fa Cup winners) so top 6 will be champions league each year

Rick Parry reckons it'll finally bridge the chasm between the premier league and EFL. I accept there definitely is some merit in it and it does looks to put in place a far more permanent solution.

I'm cynical enough to see the obvious, a first step towards the top six having more control and an enabler towards a European super league. The top European clubs are extremely envious of rhe prem club's financial advantage and want some way to rein it in. They want a share of the spoils and a super league brings that, if they can diminish the prem at the same time so much the better.

A step towards the elite cartel of top European clubs replacing the now discredited FFP without relinquishing control.

If they want to improve the PL then have a play off for the final CL spot. Then you have the teams in the middle of the table with something to play for all season. Who could possibly oppose that.....

Not for me. The 4 teams with the most points deserve the four spots but if you were to do it for the champions league, you would then have play offs for the Europa league and also Europa league two (whatever they call it?)
It wouldn't work.
