Clearly pushing to have the likes of LFC and United to have a bigger say on getting more money from overseas TV rights. They will argue their “brand” brings the money in so we should get more than everyone else.
Liverpool and United don’t do anything with a view to helping anyone else, they do it to help themselves

Both sold their souls for the corporate dollar.
They are both free leave the premier League and pursue their own paths to glory.

Questions need to be asked as to why two rival clubs are sitting down and plotting the down fall of the PL

Two sides wanting to close shop and scoop the cash coming in

They have American owners, in American sports the owners are used to a closed shop and all working together for financial gain of the league

Spirit of Shankley to issue sanctimonious disclaimer.

;)
HaHa. Just held my nose and had a look on Rawk. Many posts of the type; “Well I don’t want a Super League but you can understand people wanting to watch us v PSG /Real Madrid than having to watch Brighton v Newcastle or Burnley v Palace. The money they get for the football try produce is shocking.
They want it without admitting they want it. No surprise there.

this is a nonsense arguement; on paper it sounds great - but the reality is they drive well over half of the global viewing figures (2018 figures the most recent I could find) for the PL and even more of the TV rights figures negotiated. The PL needs them as much as they need the PL - neither can walk away unless there is a serious move to a superleague, which I think is a good while away

They want it until they're going through long periods of not winning or not being able to roll over the "lesser" teams, or they can't afford to keep up with the normal travel expenses, never mind when games are being played half way across the world because of money. A super league would be a disaster of greedy clubs caring even less about local supporters, they'd soon regret stepping away.

I also find it interesting that one of the arguments is that the tv rights should be distributed differently, with United/Liverpool receiving more of it given their reach but that tends to spin off into other clubs spending their way to the top with money not earned and it's somehow unfair. If we're making the argument about fairness then all clubs should have an equal budget they can spend each season, regardless of how much profit they're making - we know that wouldn't happen though because it's not about being fair, it's about certain teams wanting an advantage before a ball has even been kicked.

No kidding. They really won't like it if they ever go something like 30 years without winning the league. Oh wait...

I could see this happening, reducing the premier league to 18 teams and only having the teams not in europe involved in the league cup, devaluing that even further. This would support the expansion of the champions league, to groups of 6 instead of 4. This would probably give the premier league 6 places in this competition and 1 in the Europa Conference league (via the Fa Cup winners) so top 6 will be champions league each year

6 in the champion league. Omg that would be terrible

The absolute cheek of it though.

"Right.. we'll give the lower leagues a lifeline by giving them millions. In return...power to control the league"
