Give it to Richarlison, he can't speak English so least the player's won't sulk if the captain moans at them since they won't know what he is saying
My mate told me at the end of last season Rooney sent a WhatsApp message to the players group saying Coleman should be captain for this season.Irrespective on whether Jags is still here or not he should not be captain anymore , even in his prime he was not captain material , never vocal enough , never in the refs face , doesnt have that drive and leadership to rally his teammates , there is only one man fit for the job , Coleman ...
Sad part of it mate he is our best Centre back at the moment despite his age and lack of pace !I refuse to jump on the 'hate Jags' bandwagon. He certainly no longer deserves to be a starter and I agree that the time is right (overdue even) to replace him as captain. But that is not Jags fault. It is the fault of previous failings in management who have not replaced him with anyone better.
To be fair to Jags, he has never hidden, never complained, never pretended to be injured, always made himself available when called upon and always given his best.
That he is getting on a bit and his best is no longer good enough to start is not his fault. It is a management failing that Jags still has to start and Jags deserves better than insults from us. He has been fantastic for us for many years and still gives everything in every game he is selected for.
I reckon Pickford is potential captain material, he's very vocal even without the armband.Coleman is really the only candidate, no -one else strikes me as a leader , which is a sad state of affairs
Got to be running through Marco's mind you would think......mind you isn't Baines the V/C? Think captaincy is overrated myself...look at HorrendersonlollollollollolNow Jags is out who is captain Baines?
Time to give it to Coleman I think
It is important. The refs can only speak to the recognised captain. It helps if that captain feels like speaking up on behalf of a team mate. Our one cant even speak up for himself. If you need an armband to lead, you aren’t a leader. There’s more to captaincy than what you see on the pitch, and there’s more to leadership than an armband. If the club, including its manager, have the right mettle, we will see it evidenced, regardless who wears an elastic patch of clothing.
