"I only knew about the Utd job 4 weeks before I took it" - Moyes, said several times, most recently 2 days ago.

"I met David at my house at Christmas 2012 and told him 'You're my successor, you're the next Man Utd manager" - Alex Ferguson in his book.

Lies, lies, lies.

Then the ridiculous bids, the 'Everton shouldn't be holding back the careers of Fellaini & Baines' quote, the 'I know how Everton works'; 'I always told the players they didn't need a manager'; 'I signed most of the players', 'He's doing a good job carrying it on...' quotes.

Pretty much all of that, Bally.

The media fails to realise, he wasn't just booed because he left and because he made **** bids. It's his whole demeanour and the lies he told (and still tells), and the fact he left without us getting any compensation for him, from one of the richest clubs in world football.

I keep hearing people say that so I thought I'd flick through the SAF autobiography.

Here is the quote in full:

"The seeds of my decision to step down had been planted in the winter of 2012. AroundChristmas-time the thought became sharpand clear in my head: ‘I’m going to retire.’‘Why are you going to do that?’ Cathy said.‘Last season, losing the title in the lastgame, I can’t take another one like that,’ Itold her. ‘I just hope we can win the Leaguethis time and reach the Champions Leagueor FA Cup final. It would be a great ending.’Cathy, who had lost her sister Bridget inOctober, and was struggling to come toterms with that bereavement, soon agreed it was the right course. Her take was that if I wanted to do other things with my life I

would still be young enough. Contractually I was obliged to notify the club by 31 March if I was going to stand down that summer.By coincidence David Gill had called meone Sunday in February and asked if hecould come to see me at home. A Sunday af-ternoon? ‘I bet he’s resigning as chief execut-ive,’ I said. ‘Either that or you’re gettingsacked,’ Cathy said. David’s news was that he would be standing down as chief executive atthe end of the season. ‘Bloody hell, David,’ Isaid. And I told him that I had reached thesame decision. In the days that followed, David rang totell me to expect a call from the Glazers. When it came I assured Joel Glazer that my decision had nothing to do with Davidrelinquishing day-to-day control. My mindhad been made up over Christmas, I toldhim. I explained the reasons. Cathy’s sisterdying in October had changed our lives.Cathy felt isolated. Joel understood. We

agreed to meet in New York, where he triedto talk me out of retiring. I told him I appre-ciated the effort he was making and thankedhim for his support. He expressed his gratit-ude for all my work. With no prospect of a change in my think-ing, the discussion turned to who might re-place me. There was a unanimous agreement– David Moyes was the man.David came over to the house to discusshis potential availability. It was important tothe Glazers that there was no long period of speculation when my retirement became of-ficial. They wanted the new man in place within days.

Nothing in that says at all that Moyes was told in Christmas 2012 that he was going to be Manchester United manager.

It says SAF decided to retire at Christmas
Discussed it with David Gill in February
At at some point after that met the Glazers
And at some point after that he asked Moyes to take over.

There is nothing there that contradicts anything Moyes has said on the matter.

It's naive to the point of ridiculousness to think that Moyes wasn't tapped up at Christmas, if not earlier. His actions were very clear in regards to his contract at Everton.

Do you honestly think Ferguson makes his decision to retire at Christmas, a man who by his own acknowledgement believes "David Moyes was the man", yet made no approach to ensure he didn't tie himself down to Everton before the season ended? Come on...

In relation to the thread, my opinion on Moyes changed about mid-way through his tenure here when he changed from being a man who wanted to always go one step further, to a man who simply didn't want to tarnish his own individual reputation and became cautious to the extreme, soiling the clubs stature to sate his own ego.

The definitive turning point for me was Christmas 2011 (or 2010 actually, years fly by!); a win against Manchester City, where I saw nearly every Evertonian celebrate a win that was achieved by playing backs to the wall panic and crossing our fingers. I was furious; regardless of the opposition, we shouldn't settle for that. We win or we go down fighting like a proper club or not at all for me.

That's why, regardless of the result at Old Trafford last week, I would have been proud to have been an Evertonian, as we turned up and gave it a proper go. The times we did that under Moyes you could count on one hand.

Pretty obvious he knew he was getting the job, well before Christmas 2012. Whether that be phone calls by Ferguson to say "Don't sign that contract" you'll definitely get a bigger job. The hints! To then being told for definite at Christmas.

He pissed on his own chips by disrespecting our club and us fans. Can't see the problem with giving him some stick for that.

If you want to drill down to individual matches, the away game at Southampton last year for me (Pochetti's first game in charge) was when it really hit home for me: WE WOULD NEVER ACHIEVE ANYTHING UNDER MOYES. Everything was set up for us to push on to mount a really strong CL challenge, and he totally bottled it. The match ended 0-0 but that was largely down to Howard, and the performance was as spineless and disgraceful as anything I'd ever seen. We could barely string two passes together in the first half, and about as far away from the "School of science" tag as you could ever imagine.

I suspect if he thinks he was hard done by at OT, he is in for a big surprise at Goodison.
I cheered and clapped him in acknowledgement of his achievements at the club. I thought his time was up, but he had steadied the ship when needed, but had took us as far as he could. His tactics were getting ropey and even the most die hard fans were starting to lose faith in him. The move to Man Ure was right for him and Everton. However, since leaving he has blotted his copybook in my opinion, and I will be in GP letting him know that, come the home game in April.

That is a damned good summation but add to it the pre match comments uttered shortly before wedneaday, utted disrepct and disregard for Everton.

Mind the way he had got Man U playing perhaps they should rename the club "New Everton".

Kenright has been telling lies for longer than Moyes but continues to escape the treatment Moyes got last Wednesday.

The bids were bad enough.

The hypocrisy of saying "I wouldn't stand in their way" both as an open lie and as evidence that he thought we were a sh*t club and a mere stepping stone, that's what turned me

I have admiration for Moyes. Done well at Everton considering what resource he had. The British press slate anyone they can. I hope he does well at United, but I also hope that Martinez does better!

David Moyes seems rather upset he didn't get the arm around the shoulder welcome from the travelling Evertonians on Wednesday.
When did your feelings change towards him and what angered you after he spent such a long time with us?
It will be interesting to hear your views.

I didn't want him in 2002 and I still didn't want him in 2013 so my feeling never really hanged.
