Moyes is now my favourite Evertonian of all time

Utd, City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Birmingham, Pompey, 'Boro, Blackburn and the Sh!te, are the 10 teams that have won the 22 (English) finals since 2002. The teams in bold have all been relegated and the others have spent Vastly superior sums to Everton. I agree we should do better but it's not like we exactly surrender, we've just under-performed, but as I say, it's not exactly an level playing field and the outsiders that have won aren't exactly basking in glory now are they?

We surrendered last year.

It's true, lad. In ten years time you won't remember whether we finished 7th or 8th in 2010-11. Bet you'll never forget any semi final you've ever been to, though.

If we finished 17th this year and won a cup it'd feel hollow as hell. We might have a bit of silverware to show for it but we'd still be utter, utter sh*te. Where's the pride in winning something if you're team's still undeniably sh*t?

He took us from relegation candidates to 6th in the league in just two years and won a trophy while doing it. Fecking legend.

One of my childhood heroes.

Yeah sure, but then resigned when things got tough.

Didn't see Moyes resigning when he took us to 17th?

Didn't see Moyes resigning when he was told that funds will not be allocated for players?

Moyes has built 3 different sides over his tenure here, not many managers have done that.

Oops I see that point has been made already.. I should've read the whole thread before replying... apologies.

I was alive when we last won the league. I would like to be alive when it happens again.

I was only joking, mate.

But the truth is, the genius of Clough or Ramsey wouldn't ever, even if they both tried a hundred times, result in a league championship for Forest or Ipswich these days. Remember, Forest were in the second tier in 1977. By 1980 they were twice European champions (a Europe or Real, Barca, Inter, Milan, Bayern, Ajax etc..).

So, given that they'd most likely not win a thing these days, does that make them sh/te?

Didn't feel hollow in 95 mate. I was there. It felt fecking wonderful. And the good feelings it gave us drove us to 6th the next year but I don't remember that season half as fondly.

It's not about winning trophies. It's about playing the game. Winning things is a bonus.

Well yeah, it'd feel great and all blues would remember it, but no one else will. Most will have forgotten Birmingham won the league cup in a few years. It doesn't change the fact that they were so badly gash that they got relegated and everyone knows it. I'd rather we competed on every front.

That final will always be the one that Arsenal lost, for me. At best it's plucky little Birmingham upsetting the odds thanks to a horrendous error from Arsenal's defence in the last minute.

Moyes has done so much for Everton in the last ten years ,i am convinced if we would have had any other manager we would now be in the championship or worse.
I am amazed other clubs have not come in for him.
My fear is he will leave at the end of the season and if he does it will be like when Alan Ball left.

+1
