Moyes is now my favourite Evertonian of all time

I'm not suggesting we erase 3 years from the world's history books.

I know brother, I don't mean to come across as arsy...I just don't like the hypothetical arguments that get played when talk of managers come up.

"If we didn't have Moyes we'd definitely be relegated" is probably the most ill-founded quote I think i've ever heard, lest we forget 2003/4.

Are people seriously suggesting Moyes is a better Evertonian than Howard Kendall here???

I can only hope that those who are are under the age of 24. And mentally sub-par.

Shall I list all the good cup tie wins?

Pointless argument, unless you're trying to suggest that he didn't care about the result of those games?

List the cup tie wins that actually mean something, go ahead...

And no, i'm suggesting that the man doesn't have the nouse to win major cup competitions...hence why i listed the below par teams that have dumped us out of the cup on many an occasion...

By the way I still think Kendall was a better manager (in his first spell at least) and has done miles more for the club than Moyes probably ever will. I'm just saying that some people would argue over who is the best manager given the circumstances whereas you can't disagree with cold hard FACHTS about honours.

Moyes has done so much for Everton in the last ten years ,i am convinced if we would have had any other manager we would now be in the championship or worse.
I am amazed other clubs have not come in for him.
My fear is he will leave at the end of the season and if he does it will be like when Alan Ball left.

unless we get 4th or taken over I can see him leaving to manage in a foreign country. Dont think we can use the old "he is a young manager still learning his trade" after the has been here for 11 years.

He guarantees us top8 finishes every year no matter how bad we are. the fear is no other manager would put up with BK or preform as good as moyes did,

I hate this "better Evertonain" nonsense. I was 9 when he left in '87 so don't remember anything of his first stint. I'm sure there are older fans who argue the merits of Caterick over Kendall, it's all about opinion. But there are a lot of fans like myself who grew up with watching us being completely dire practically for the whole of the 90's, Joe Royle restored some pride but it didn't last.
In an era when Everton have been sh!te there are few people who have done more than Moyes to restore us to where we want to be. Many fans don't think Duncan is a legend but I do because in a time of dross he gave us pride in the shirt and for all Moyes failings (no-one is saying he's perfect) we are a much better club and team now and that is all down to the manager.

Nicely summed up for me, and a decent comparison.

I just shouldn't be castigated for voicing my dissent against the manager when f*cking Reading knock us out of a cup we should be going full throttle for...it's not my fault i've got pretty high standards, it's not like I support Bury or something.

Opinions are like arseholes, everyone's got one but some smell worse than others.
I'd love us to win a trophy, even the Captial One cup, but not if it meant spending a year in the championship. Not that the two things are connected but apart from the "top 6" the only other cup winning teams have all been relegated.
We should all demand more but for me the fault isn't all Moyes', if he could build a competitive squad we could compete on all fronts but it's obvious his priority is the league and, well, we're stuck with it.

To repeat myself: There's a wide, wide gap between 'not the greatest evertonian of all time' and '****'.

Pretty sure the only person mentioning him being the best ever is the op. The rest are saying he's a very good manager, you are arguing it constantly demonstrating your views that he is not at an acceptable standard with the mention of losing cup games to lesser teams as if no decent manager does that, or using Mike walker as a standard with which to compare him etc etc.
He's quality and if you read back all your comments you will surely agree that you are trying to paint a picture of a **** manager. Which as you admit yourself is not right.

Its all about context,Kendall was brilliant, but we were a bigger team then and could compete financially with the top teams. That has never been the case for Moyes. We all know with a bit more money Moyes would have won something.

Without moyes we would b in the championship !! The wage he gets worth every cent in my opinion !! His taken us from a club living in fear of relegation to club dreaming of european football on a very small transfer budget ! He can b a bit frustrating @ times when he plays one striker at home against norwich !! Hope his at everton for another 10 years !!
