Moshiri on Jim White show on TalkSport today....

I said on Saturday after we got thumped that we'd hear a snippet about a stadium to try and distract us from the obvious underinvestment in the transfer window.

Right on cue.

Until he actually does something of significance e.g. gets a spade in the ground of the docks, this is all propaganda we have heard for countless years.

is FFP still a thing? how much can we spend in a window or season net with our income and commercial deals? Does this mean we have to keep selling players to spend a fair amount?

Moshiri referred to this in depth so clearly it is a big issue for us. Essentially, we grow the club by moving to a big stadium to grow the income.

yes it is a thing, and no, it means (as has been said on here loads (there was a very decent article written on it) ) that we have to get the money through other means.

The quickest way is player sales - see John Stones.

The most sustainable and best way is improved commercial revenue. Moshiri said this in the interview, and that's why a stadium is so key.

Well, yes, but this was a bit more than a snippet tbh.

And let's see. Things take time. He's been here 9 months. The debt is paid, overall the club is in a better position (on and off the pitch) now than it was then.

hopefully in a few months the 'spade in the ground' will be a reality.

It's pie in the sky / jam tomorrow stuff. There's no plan there.

If he'd said what sort of stadium he was interested in or how the commercial side will grow then it might be classed as information. Apparently, given he had nothing to say on the commercial side, it's the famous Elstone "facility led recovery" we're looking at...in other words, he'll do no real reconstructing of that side and just rely on a new stadium in the dim and distant future to increase revenue and thereby spending from.
In fairness Dave he gave the outline of a plan. Repay debt, build a new stadium and increase commercial revenues, and build a new team with Koeman as the leader that is capable of challenging for Europe.

He only had so much time allowed during the interview during which he wanted to cover off a large number of issues, including telling us all how what a great Evertonian cuddly Bill is, but apart from that I was generally satisfied with what he had to say. He never meant it as a platform to announce the stadium plans and probably isn't in a position to do so yet anyway. Same goes for increasing commercial revenue. For the moment we'll just have to content ourselves with his verbal commitment to making it happen.

At the end of the day mate, there are 3 ways you can react to that inter view and it's contents. You can believe what he is saying and look forward to him putting his words into action. You can hear what he's saying, but not believe it until you see some evidence. Or you can take the stance that his words are hollow and he is basically lying about everything.

It has to be. half or more of the clubs in the premiership have billionaire owners now but don't spend massively. Moshiri mentioned 900 million and 1 billion kit deals so he knows he has to increase the club's income and find ways to compete. he said funds are in place for a new stadium and I believe him when he says our balance sheet is great now because he's cleared the debts.

Sitting in Earl/Green's bank account and a Kenwright's. It's not going on a boss playmaker and a top GK that's for sure!

Well it can't in November...

Moshiri said in that interview Koeman wanted 7 players.

He said we got 4 of the ones on the main list (Gueye, Stek, Bolasie, Williams).

Also wanted a box to box and a striker (didn't mention Valencia mind), and one more.

That's the exact opposite of what he's just done and what you tried to call him out for. Stick to a story Dave.
It's not. He's in charge and he's using the word to suggest he (mostly as the largest shareholder) and other sitting directors with large share holdings are responsible for paying off a debt of that magnitude.

It's fantasy island stuff.

Yes, I absolutely demand action must be taken on:-
a) sacking a useless manager
b) getting in a decent manager with an excellent reputation
c) giving him funds to spend in the transfer market (even if a lot might go unspent)
d) appointing a Director of Football
e) paying off debts
f) pushing really hard for a brand new stadium, allowing us to grow the club and compete for better players, while complying with Financial Fair Play rules

If all of them are true, then we should have loads of money available in January, that's unless he has used club money to pay off our debts and has still yet to invest in the club himself.

Thanks for that Esk.

You get the impression that Mosh has been logging on to GOT as a lot on here have been asking for some sort of statement rather than just the silence that has been coming out of GP. I'm not sure I would have chosen Jim White and Talksport as the avenue of communication but I guess he has to do it somewhere and the important thing is that it has now been done.

Obviously it was extremely contrived, and I think White & Mosh must have spent part of Saturday discussing the agenda rather than watching the match, and who can blame him for that. But he did cover a lot of area's and I know that a lot of Evertonians will be much happier after the interview than they were before.

At the end of the day they are just words, and I'm sure the many doubters on here will cling to that as they continue to disbelieve anything until they see physical evidence. I sometimes think some of them would actually prefer things not to happen so they can say "told you so". My view is he would be foolish in the extreme to lie on live radio, especially on so many topics that are so important to the fans, and I don't believe for one moment that he is, indeed, foolish.

What do you think prompted the interview Esk.? Was it coincidence following an impromptu meeting with white at the game on Saturday, or that he felt he needed to be heard following the debacle at the weekend. I think it's the latter myself.

Here is the thing though mate, did he promise a new stadium - especially one on the docks - no
Did he promise any particular amount for the manger to invest or talk in anythign but the most abstract of jargon - no

IF we ended up mving to st9necross for example then theres not a single thing in that interview that could be used against him as a lie
If we ended up selling Lukaku or any pothe rplayer and not reinvesting it - then theres no lies he has said

Basically it was a 15min interview where he gave no specifics - just a fair few soundbites, and excuses - oh yeah there was a good few of those especially about why we didnt spend anything over what we sold this summer, crazy market, players fell through at the last minute due to the sellign club, due to us being gazzumped by another team, and due to a player choosing another team at the last minute. We sold a player becuase OFM gave him his word he could leave this summer - but the next sentence he goes on about he wouldnt have sold him unless Koeman gave him the ok to do so, so which is true, he was honouring a promise from Martinez or in fact that promise didnt matter if Komean wanted him to stay?

Which version of McCarhty/Sissok is actually true, as both can't as they directly contradict each ther, we pulled out or the player chose Spurs, becuase in the last 3 months he has said a different version of what happened?

Loved the throwing in (pre-arranged 100%) about Usmanov being with him when White met him on Saturday, that alone will get countless blues holding nto the hope Usmanov is incoming

And yeah Moshiri - 100% gets Evertonians, just a shame that he decided to give an interview to a station owned effectively by the Sun.

We'll soon see.

Big coincidence it comes during the peak of a bad spell for the club, though.
