Good day at Ormskirk Market yesterday. Weather was fab and me and Mrs J worked our butts off selling to raise almost £650 for the animals. The hardest thing I found was having to be pleasant and engage everyone including the many gobshites in RS shirts ! Depressingly there was only 1 ( a child ) in an Everton top but countless RS ones!

Anyway we were made up with that total but bloody hard work. Retired to the garden and had a glass of wine in the early evening sun and woke up an hour later ! Fortunately I missed the England game ! Who really cares about international matches ?

Dilemna today @anjelikaferrett - do I go to yoga or watch the cricket? You just know that Root and Foakes will get out in the first 2 overs and we will fall 30 runs short.

@Sassy Colombian sorry you are still suffering from covid but great that you had the strength to post such a lovely photo for everyone on another thread lol .

Anyway - whatever you do have a lovely time.

I am imagining you having to be pleasant to the RS must be a great sacrifice so more reasons to praise all the work you, and Ms. J, do to raise money for animals. The shelter is so fortunate to have your support.

Morning everyone. Hope you are all OK. Its lovely to see so many good things going on. Jazzy and his charity, Sassy and her upcoming protest march and Armagh Toffee making friends with a Ukranian. I think, amongst all the gloom and doom, we lose sight of how many kind and good people there are in this world. I need to get back into some sort of activism or volunteering. I do miss it. I was asked to join the local parish council but after attending one meeting that featured a two hour discussion on hanging baskets I realised this was not for melol.
Going to measure for some new stairs and landing carpet today. It desperately needs doing, the cat has wrecked the old one by scratching the bottom step.

Morning all, belting down here, literally raining on people’s parades. There‘s a Jubbly picnic and fun day planned for the town where son lives and grandkids were hoping to go so feel a bit disappointed for them but it has got me out of a difficult situation as we were invited along. My distinct lack of enthusiasm was greeted with”But it’s history, Nanny!” Pointed out other forms of history were available and whose history was it anyway? and received a look from DIL which told me to go no further ?. The Vanarama play off is on TV this afternoon so am going to watch that, then Wales/Ukraine later. @Sassy Colombian glad you are feeling better and good luck on the march next week, we will all be thinking of you. @Methuselah we will all be thinking of you tomorrow as you start your treatment best of luck ?. I've just been out looks like the rain wants too start, anyway on the way back I always see this old Volkswagen beetle van, it has a slogan on the side "Urban outfitters, pay good money to look homeless" I never am sure if it's an official UO van so I was having a closer look and in the back window was a flaming sticker of a golliwog a fair sized one as well, I was proper shocked, so doubt it's official. Horrible that I think.

I had not idea what was a golliwog, but I just looked it up. Based on what I just read it seems to be a racist sort of expression, right?

Beautiful day here, got the garden furniture out to make the most of it but the Ireland match calls! I can’t say I know a single Armenian player.

How did Ireland do? Colombia is to be playing against Saudi Arabia today and to be honest I’m not even going to bother watching it. I’m so disappointed we didn’t make it to the WC that this match doesn’t sound very appealing for me to watch.

Absolutely horrible down here, but it was forecast. Lots of the village gardens are opening to the public today in aid of charity. It has been organised by the village WI (that's Women's Institute Sass, a club for middle aged female Tories lol ). I'm guessing there will be some lovely private gardens around here but I can't see many venturing out today, which is a shame. If I was a middle aged female Tory I would have been suggesting that they changed the event to yesterday which was still a bank holiday and nothing else was planned for the village that day.

Hello lovely people.

This morning I’ve been trying to catch up to this thread and I began reading backwards just like Fred.

I want to thank you for the sweet messages of support you all posted a few days ago, I apologise for not writing back right away but I’m still overcoming the deep sadness that has over taken my spirit for days now, but the sun is shining my way and I’m trying to feel better and look at all the bright aspects of the current situation and how to improve things not only for our family but for the whole country. Next Saturday there are marches planned throughout the country against violence and for gun reform and I’m going to be there making my voice heard. Hopefully millions will come out so Congress can get a grip of the support there is to change the current situation. There has been over 230 mass shootings in this country since the beginning of this year, this can’t continue and hopefully in November we will make our voices heard about it too at the ballot.

Sofia is having her 5th grade graduation on Monday and I volunteered to set up and work on the celebration festivities. I can’t believe she will be in middle school in just a few months, she is going through a growth spurt at the moment and she is looking more like a young lady than a kid. The past couple of weeks I was resolved in finding her a therapist and I did, she has began therapy this morning and I hope having this extra form of support will help her deal with all the fears and issues that are arising as she deal with the pressure of becoming a teenager. I’m thrilled my new super expensive health insurance coverage is going to pay 100% of the appointments and there is no even a copayment so this is a huge win for our family.

This weekend the hubby is in Virginia for his uncle’s funeral, but I didn’t go because I’m still testing positive for Covid so just in case I stayed behind. Sofia is also busy with her best friend so I found myself at home all on my own, a very rare experience so I’m trying to figure out what to do with myself. The house is already sparkly clean and the garden is taken care off as well. I may just put a bikini, lay in the sun and read a book and pretend that I’m somewhere in the Caribbean or the Mediterranean lol

I think somewhere along the way you must have forgotten your bikini top Sass lol

On a serious note I hope next weekend's marches have some effect on your country's decision makers. It's heartbreaking reading about all these tragic mass shootings that seem to be happening on an almost daily basis.

Good Sunday mascoteers!

I’m feeling a bit tired this morning as Fresca woke me up at 3 am this morning and hasn’t stopped meowing for love and food. She can be so intense at times when she was attention. Good thing the hubby is not here or he would have been furious with her as the weekends is the only time he gets to sleep in.

It looks like it is going be a gorgeous day in Asheville, the sun is already shining and the sky is blue. Today is my aunts 60th birthday so we are going to have a family celebration outdoors, given my recent Covid results. My other uncle and his wife just arrived from Colombia this week so it is going to be lovely seeing them too, the last time they visited was before Covid began. So it will be a big family gathering, which I love. As you all know already, family is a very important to me.

One match that I’m going to keep an eye this morning is on Nadal’s final at the French Open. I love Rafael as a tennis player and as a person so I really hope he wins the title again, he is such a legend and given his age and recent injuries this may be one of his last chances to win another grand slam. Plus I want him to add more so Djokovic’s is not his equal lol

Jazzy, while im feeling much better, I’m afraid my fitness has taken a toll. I have not been to the gym in two weeks, such a bummer because just before I got Covid I was lifting heavy weights for my gluteus and I was starting to see them grow a bit, but now im back to square one. So this week I’ll begin my training again and I know it is going to be a struggle at first, but hopefully I’ll get back to fitness soon enough.

How are things going with your fitness? And your back?

Tbh, I fear the same about the March, but I still going to attend just because even if the government doesn’t act they at least need to see that many of us really want some sort of gun reform. But unfortunately my own experience marching and working on get out the vote campaigns in the past have thought me that it is almost impossible to change the system, or even motivate voters to push politicians to make this change. The NRA and the gun lobby in this country have many of our politicians on their pockets so their interest prevail over the desire of most of the public which is some form of gun control. But until there is serious campaign reform and the way politicians raise their money, our voices will never be loud enough, unfortunately

Lol, I was being polite when saying that I was going to sunbathe with a bikini, but the true is that I have a lot of privacy in my yard and I don’t like bikini lines

I hope so too, but like Jazzy, I have not great hopes. But still is important to make our voices heard. As a parent of a Latin child of similar age than those that got killed, it is indeed heartbreaking the pain those parents, that whole community is feeling. I’m sure our founding fathers never envisioned the right to bear arms to be so misused. Military style assault weapons don’t belong on the streets, there is nothing unreasonable about that, nor it is about requiring a person to be at least 21 to purchase a gun. It makes no sense at 18 you can buy an assault weapon but not a beer or a cigarette.
