Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Perspective : I know this thread is not about me but I had to share ,I decided to tell my son Matt and his reaction shocked me ,he was delighted I will need to go on meds .This shocked me as I thought he would be sad but he explained that many cancer sufferers get to know at stage 4 ,so I was lucky to get diagnosed earlier . For sure it was a surprise but actually reassuring .
I can get his perspective completely in that you are getting the chance for condition management medication. I’m pleased his take on things was a reassurance to you.

And one more thing blue. Of course this thread is about you! It’s about all of us and anyone else who fancies calling in for a chat.

Good morning all, it’s been a while since I’ve popped in here. Sadly my sister took seriously ill at the beginning of April starting a stressful chain of events. You may remember me mentioning she had Alzheimer’s and lived in a care home in Manchester , but she went downhill rapidly, contracting sepsis and died in North Manchester hospital. As one of her Power of Attorneys and main contact for our side of the family I was heavily involved in things. Too be honest it hit me so much harder than I had anticipated, stress levels, anxiety levels etc just seem to go through the roof. A factor of getting old I guess, even planning trips to Manchester, getting about etc were anxiety ridden.

I popped into GOT occasionally, a few odd posts but no real appetite for our football and some of the threads on this site are best avoided at times , some people seem to thrive on antagonism and lack of kindness.

I haven’t really kept up to date , so sorry if I’ve missed anything significant. I did read your post @blue1948 , best wishes to you , I hope your news gets better and to quote one of your phrases “ Stay strong that man”
Sorry for your loss mate.

When I moved to Canada, my sister lived here with her family, it was a big reason for the move, tragically she passed away 3 yrs after I moved her, she was only 45 it was so hard not to move back home, but her kids and husband persuaded me to stay, it helped me to stay here but it was a tough few years

The Scottish Football thread went from the sublime to the ridiculous over the title run in. Far too much goading and not all of it in the name of good natured debate or banter.
Indeed. The majority have never been to a Scottish football match or one not involving a team outside of the Central Belt. Now , this is where I’d usually add “ They don’t know what it’s like on a cold Wednesday night in February when your 6 foot away from the players , watching a Highland League match, and the wind that started off at the North Pole is blowing in your face”. On reflection I realise I hate Wednesday night football in February, but don’t tell anyone. I invariably stay up an extra hour defrosting with a dram or two and vow never to go again ☹🙂

Thank you. Yes that is tragically young and with a young family too. I’m glad you were able to weather the storm of those tough few years. So many people are going through or have experienced tough situations that others aren’t aware of, we often lack the perspective to consider that others may be going through a bad situation and give them some leeway. It saddens me the lack of kindness we show at times

There is a similar scenario here in the Gaelic where the winter travelling fans all have at least a ‘know your face’ knowledge of each other. Haunted by too many days of soakings and defeats when you’re 3 hours drive from home. Come the summertime though, the real ‘experts’ come out of hibernation and bleat about how unfair it is that they can’t get tickets for Croke Park…

You know the type I’m sure.

Had to Google that. It has completely escaped my attention. I haven’t seen boat trips advertised from Liverpool but presumably they are hiding in plain sight from me!

There are no boat trips , you walk across from West Kirby having paid close attention to the tide tables.

As big J said walking across from West Kirkby is best you not only have to time it right you have to follow the correct path as going direct to them could put you in sinking sand.
It's about two and a half miles out but looks a lot closer.

45 is no age. Sorry to hear this …
