Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning friends. Sorry it's afternoon isn't it. Oh well.

Been a busy few days for me. Had the neighbours around for a few drinks late Friday afternoon when it was still beautiful. They've managed to find a new prop for their boat (they thought they'd have to have a new one made up bespoke for them) which means they can get it seaworthy again by the end of this month, so they've booked their ferry to go back to Guernsey for the 26th. That's good news for me too, as it means that they'll be around for what would have been my 30th anniversary so I have booked them for the day. If it's nice we'll probably go to St Ives for the day, one of our favourite places in the whole world. It's where last year's G7 meeting was held Sass, following which there's been a marked increase in American tourists apparently.

Other good news is that my mate called me yesterday to say that my other mate (the one who's whole life revolves around growing chrysanthemums) has confirmed he can go to Musselburgh races on the 29th. So we're off to Edinburgh for 2 days on the 28th June. I'll get the flight up and meet them there, and then I'll travel back to Liverpool with them and spend a week there and then fly back from Manchester. It'll be good to catch up with family and friends again. Peter, the neighbours son, has confirmed that he will give me a lift to and from Newquay airport, and my flights and hotels are all booked. I was a busy boy yesterday morning.

Yesterday afternoon I went around to my neighbours for a Jubilee BBQ. I went there at 5.30 and crawled back at 12.30am, which meant I missed the live music going on in the village. Ah well. It turned into a very boozy night. Started on the beer, then some bubbly to toast the Queen (sorry all you Republicans ), then some white wine to go with the monkfish starter, then some red wine to go with the various meats and sausages on offer, and then some port to go with the cheese. Peter then went missing for a few minutes and turned up with an unopened bottle of Japanese malt whiskey he'd had for 5 years waiting for a special occasion. A mistake he won't be making again any time soon as he sulked home 2 hours later cradling the empty bottle. Then we cracked open a bottle of Waitrose own brand XO cognac, which the neighbour decanted into an empty Louis XIII cognac bottle because he reckoned it tasted better. It may well have done but I was past caring at that stage. All the other guests had gone by that stage so it was just me and the neighbour and a £3000 bottle of cognac sorting out the worlds problems. After polishing off at least half of the bottle I managed to crawl back to my house 2 doors away, and decided it would be a good idea if I poured myself another cognac whilst I watched the remainder of the England game which I had recorded earlier. Next minute I woke up in the chair with my untouched glass of Remy beside me, the TV had switched itself off and it was light outside.lol I took myself off to bed and woke up again about 10.30. For some unknown reason I have a massive hangover.

Have a good day all. Think I'm going to have something stodgie for my lunch then hibernate the rest of the day. ;)

As some of you may know, we adopted some hermit crabs a couple of years ago and I’m always puzzled by their boring lives and wanted to enhance it, so this week I ordered some new items and with Sofia we changed their living conditions, we added a new bath pool and added coconut shavings to half of the tank, before we only had sand. Also added some moss and some new sticks. One of the crabs is loving it and has been more active than ever. The other one freaked out for a bit and left her shell so I was afraid that she was going to die, and Sofia was going to be devastated. Thankfully after an initial shocking period, she has come to her senses and is back in her shell. Here are some pics of Shelby and Hermit and their new living quarters :)

Lol, your unknown reason is very clear to us lol

It makes me happy to read you are having a great time with your neighbours and have such fun holiday plans coming up, and it is especially great knowing you are going to be with friends during your 30th anniversary, we’ll be thinking of you too in that day ?

Jazzy, while im feeling much better, I’m afraid my fitness has taken a toll. I have not been to the gym in two weeks, such a bummer because just before I got Covid I was lifting heavy weights for my gluteus and I was starting to see them grow a bit, but now im back to square one. So this week I’ll begin my training again and I know it is going to be a struggle at first, but hopefully I’ll get back to fitness soon enough.

How are things going with your fitness? And your back?

Tbh, I fear the same about the March, but I still going to attend just because even if the government doesn’t act they at least need to see that many of us really want some sort of gun reform. But unfortunately my own experience marching and working on get out the vote campaigns in the past have thought me that it is almost impossible to change the system, or even motivate voters to push politicians to make this change. The NRA and the gun lobby in this country have many of our politicians on their pockets so their interest prevail over the desire of most of the public which is some form of gun control. But until there is serious campaign reform and the way politicians raise their money, our voices will never be loud enough, unfortunately :(

oh, okay. So it is a meaningful one.
yeah fitness is good at moment.

back into my routines at the gym.

both back and ankle feel ok.

will return to full table tennis training ( 3 hrs , 3 times a week ) next week.

How have you got hold of a video of Mrs J ?

sounds like a great night amigo

I have tried before, but I’m going to give it another go. It would be nice to have a greater connection with our neighbours.

I am imagining you having to be pleasant to the RS must be a great sacrifice so more reasons to praise all the work you, and Ms. J, do to raise money for animals. The shelter is so fortunate to have your support.

Thanks, Jazzy. Im actually feeling so much better than I have in days this weekend (as my pic can prove. Lol) And now that we ended up getting Covid, Im hoping we now have a super immune system lol

I sure hope the upcoming March makes a difference and really puts pressure on US legislators and politicians to do something. If another massacre of young children doesn’t move again the needle then this country is definitely screwed

Good luck getting your stairs measured and landing a carpet. I’m glad we have hardwood on ours or our cats would have made a mess of them.

Sometimes things work out the way you just wish, even if at times is not what the grandkids have wanted. Enjoy the Vanarama play offs and the match between Ukraine/Wales. Is it a friendly or is it to qualify to the World Cup?

I had not idea what was a golliwog, but I just looked it up. Based on what I just read it seems to be a racist sort of expression, right?

What a cutie, Rosie is. Is your mum loving her as much too? And is Rosie a vegetarian?

How did Ireland do? Colombia is to be playing against Saudi Arabia today and to be honest I’m not even going to bother watching it. I’m so disappointed we didn’t make it to the WC that this match doesn’t sound very appealing for me to watch.

I hope the weather has improved your way, darling. Xxx

best of luck to your Merc 300 SE, what sort of different unit is she getting. And do you have a doctor that you can trust? I’m lucky the hubby is a great car doctor as im not the best treating the patients lol
Yes Sass a golliwog is racist, you don't see them anymore normally

Just watched Belfast quite enjoyed it even in black & white, normally I'd turn it off as it's arty farty and I don't get why as life isn't b&w but hey ho, it was a good watch. I have started watching Stranger Things again see if I can keep on it.

I wish the weather would sort itself out far too cold and then warm days in between, very weird for may, I get sick of the rain as well, the joys of the north.

Wow @Barnfred 55, you've had a good time. Hope the hangover is receding a bit. Love the hermit crabs @Sassy Colombian, glad they are enjoying their new home - after the initial shock. lol
I've loved the very long weekend. So much so that I'm having a two day week next week as well. Mr F and I are going to go out for lunch on Friday and then to the cinema to see Jurassic World. (I know - but I genuinely love all those films whilst appreciating that some of them are utter garbage) Did the stair measuring. Thanks @blue1948 for your advice. Just need to get the carpet now. Also need to fit in a visit to Liverpool in the next few weeks.

I've just been watching Wales v Ukraine. Well done to Wales but feel sad for Ukraine.

Best team lost I thought Ange. And how wasn't that a pen in the 1st half?

Ha, thanks. They can live up to 30 years so they could be a set of pets that will be with us for a while.

Long weekends are the best. Now that Everton is not playing I may try to make either Monday or Friday my work from home day, although I haven’t been at the office for two weeks so im itching to get out of the house at the moment. We haven’t been at the cinema in ages, sounds like a good date with Mr. F enjoy the movie.
