Interesting that he's admitted we needed to sell to buy in the summer. Certainly contrary to Kenwright's press conference comments "I'll give him a few quid..."

His stance of dealing with transfer speculation by saying he likes his players being linked with other Clubs because it means they're doing well is also interesting, prevents any sensationalist "Not for sale" headlines

It's hard to believe that with the tv money there was still no transfer budget. Maybe Kenwright's logic was that Fellaini is going, so spend that and see how you get on. I don't think he was ever going to give a new manager £40m or so to spend in one window.

He's actually quite cleverly adjusted expectations so that the fans appreciate that every player has their price without giving the impression that he's actively trying to sell them.

Why is it that a certain section of our fan base is more concerned about off field events rather than our performances on it ?
Exactly! if we win tomorrow we go 2nd. The problem is certain sections of the media hate this and will do all they can to derail skint Everton

The TV money is not paid in one huge sum at the start of the season, but paid in installments throughout it.

ON TOPIC FFS!

All this 'plucky little Everton, punching above their weight, no money' was almost entirely false. How much did Aj cost? £9m. How much did Yakubu cost? £11m. Likewise Bilyaletdinov. How much did Fellaini cost? £15m. Yes, we had some bargain buys, but Moyes (and I'm not turning this into a thread about him) spent shed-loads too.

He's not been effective with a transfer kitty at his current post, so maybe the picture was never as bleak as we were led to believe, transfer fund wise. I reckon Roberto Martinez is being truthful, we don't have to sell to buy - BT money?

Things won't change around here until Kenwright buggers off. We will always need to sell to buy as none of our owners give everton a pot to piss in. Everyone knows this!! Everyone!!

Bobby played his cards fantastically in the summer by the sounds of things. If it was Moyes in the hot seat every fecker would know we were looking to sell to replace.

Where's the Fellaini, Anichebe money gone? Sounds familiar

I would be very shocked if Baines is still with us on Feb 1st 2014.

Happy. But shocked.

I want us to sell in Jan for 15m rather than let him go on a free to be honest if they are the only options. Can't see him signing a new contract when a team like utd are in for you

Yeah we've always been big spenders in the last 10 years, I think sometimes the moderators need to moderate themselves, FFS.

Not quite the case though, is it?

They gave Moyes transfer funds, read my post above mate.

And didn't a lot of the money that came in this summer go towards McCarthy, and Lukak's loan fee amongst others?

How do you mean, please?

Feels quite hostile this post, and there's no need.

Please don't criticise our running of this site, which you are using free of charge.

I'm pretty certain that the purchases you mention were at one point being funded by a certain Spurs supporter. I have no proof but I think Earl is just an puppet and front for somebody else's share of the club. My opinion of course.

Since those purchases AJ, Yakubu, Fellaini. We haven't seen any big investments other than reinvestment from the sale of a player.

McCarthy £15m max.
Fellaini, victor £33.5m combined.

So we paid £18.5m to loan Lukaku and Barry? Can't see it
