Martinez: No Need To Sell

To be fair net spend can become Inadmissible if you're receiving high fees for your players.

Other than losing your better players you're still spending a fair amount. Under Moyes if we actually calculated what was spent and don't take into consideration where it came from we would be middle to lower middle spenders. Still punching above our financial weight but less glossy.

Also because we are a well established premier league team we are more attractive to those players who are surplus to requirements at their current clubs. These players may be quality but not wanted at their current clubs, contract expiring. For example Arteta and Pienaar. We pick these players up for £2-3m. In reality they may be worth £8-12m. But we are ahead of the likes of Swansea, West Brom etc for these players because of who we are.

In full we haven't spent like City and Chelsea. But we have had bits of cash and we are top of the market to pick up players who aren't seen as good enough for a top 4 team but maybe good enough for a top 8 team.

Curious where these ' need to sell allegations' have come from?!

Everton FC has faced an unprecedented increase in other operating costs that other clubs have been fortunate enough to avoid.

Top finance people are unable to explain the increase and the actual constituents of these costs, so it's a credit to the board that despite this we're still well placed in the premiership. Their financial prudence actually allows the manager an occasional very small net spend every year or two to maintain this success.

Other operating costs to the suspicious fan is what?

To me loan repayments to a certain Spurs fan who through some money in a long time ago and has called it in ever since - with interest. Money's not going missing. We're just not allowed to see which creditor it's going to.

Really need to nip this in the bud, as this is the phantom economics that Kenwright does all the time.

That was not invested money; that was the cash that we had available from the phantom, failed bid for Leroy Fer/Alvaro Negredo etc. in January, which in turn was money left over from prior player sales.

The reality is that Anichebe and Fellaini were sold and we spent very little of the money that it generated - basically loan fees only. We should have a large chunk of money available for players in January if required.

Also, something Groucho said earlier about Moyes having money to spend over the years - in short, he didn't. His net spend was almost zero.

Billy Bullwrong is a cancer on the club and it's only people who fall for his Boy's Pen and financial Jedi mind trick routines that support him with the happy clapping.

Couldn't agree more.

The biggest factor in me getting behind the decision to appoint Martinez was his history of working on a minuscule budget. It's important that Everton's manager understands and accepts the fact that he'll never be able to just spend his way out of trouble if things go wrong.

You must have a very sticky tongue for it to stay firmly in your cheek for so long!
