No problem - it's all about opinions, I seem to be well wrong here

It's good that Martinez is not in a sell-to-buy situation though.

£9m for Andy Johnson
Bloody lol.
I'm not sure who was making the "spend" comments....
If it wasn't you Groucho...apologies.

Lads, it ok to disagree you know! It's a forum after all. Maybe I missed the sell to buy point at one stage.
I'm just glad we don't have to sell Baines, provided he wants to stay, yet can still add to the squad.
Got a boss season or so out of him and sold him for £11.5m
Good business that.

Interesting that he's admitted we needed to sell to buy in the summer. Certainly contrary to Kenwright's press conference comments "I'll give him a few quid..."
His stance of dealing with transfer speculation by saying he likes his players being linked with other Clubs because it means they're doing well is also interesting, prevents any sensationalist "Not for sale" headlines

Exactly. Even if we paid 3m for Barry (as reported to cover his astronomical wages) and 5m for Lukaku (pulling a figure completely out of the air), we should still have about 10m to spend so I don't understand why people are assuming we're penniless after the last window. The maths don't add up. I'll be disappointed if 1/2 permanent signings aren't made with this money in Jan before it completely disappears by the summer
Btw, Kenwrong did actually give Bobby money before Fellaini, people forget we spent 5m on one Arouna Kone, plus Robles cost anything upto 2m depending on who you believe
Really need to nip this in the bud, as this is the phantom economics that Kenwright does all the time.
That was not invested money; that was the cash that we had available from the phantom, failed bid for Leroy Fer/Alvaro Negredo etc. in January, which in turn was money left over from prior player sales.
The reality is that Anichebe and Fellaini were sold and we spent very little of the money that it generated - basically loan fees only. We should have a large chunk of money available for players in January if required.
Also, something Groucho said earlier about Moyes having money to spend over the years - in short, he didn't. His net spend was almost zero.
Billy Bullwrong is a cancer on the club and it's only people who fall for his Boy's Pen and financial Jedi mind trick routines that support him with the happy clapping.
