Roberto Martinez has hit out at allegations that Everton are under pressure to sell when the transfer window opens again in January.
"No, no, no," said Martinez when asked if he needed to sell to buy. "We were at that stage in the summer.
"But once we had that situation when Marouane and Victor Anichebe left, that gave us the opportunity to reinvest and now we are in a position where we need a bit of continuity and time to squeeze our potential as a team.
"We´re in a period where we need to be focusing on games and trying to push ourselves to the maximum, to see how good we can become this season. It´s important we have that stability now.
"I hope we get asked about Ross Barkley and James McCarthy also because that would be a good sign. I don´t mind that, as long as we´re in a position where we can control what happens.
"It´s different when you've got someone out of contract.
"The problem is when you've got no one talking about your players because that means they´re struggling.
"So I don't mind that as long as we are the ones who are making the calls. We are in a position now which means we can do that."

Interesting that he's admitted we needed to sell to buy in the summer. Certainly contrary to Kenwright's press conference comments "I'll give him a few quid..."

His stance of dealing with transfer speculation by saying he likes his players being linked with other Clubs because it means they're doing well is also interesting, prevents any sensationalist "Not for sale" headlines

So the lie about having the McCarthy money without having to sell Fellaini was bull shine as well then?

It's a good job fans 'own' the club and have a full 'participation' in the club's running like Mr Elstone said. I'm sure the Fans Forum will sort this matter out.

dont like the fact that he appears to be inviting offers for mccarthy and barkely.

Yeeah mate, we've just paid 13 mil for McCarthy, so we're going to sell him right away.

He's just saying it shows how well our players are doing if they're involved in faux-transfer speculation.

thats your interpretation.

Think about it mate, he's just said we have no need to sell.

And then by your logic, he's also saying that he'd like to sell McCarthy, who he believe could be a future captain, and Barkley, who he said is the best young talent he's ever managed.

You do realise how your point somewhat contradicts itself?

maybe he meant we had to sell in the summer to HAVE a transfer kitty? as opposed to kenwright saying we didn't need to sell (failing to mention our kitty would be £0)

What's to say Kenwright didn't give Martinez a few bob.

A few bob is very subjective, all you cynics. Pffft.

I bet he gave him at least a fiver.
