Its a blessing in disguise

So Moyes gets slated for not trying out kids, not playing Coleman at right back, not playing Heitinga, playing Neville and when he tries everything and we lose guess what he gets slated...

Yep. We want him to take risks, try stuff, let the shackles off and not be so pragmatic and boring.

And he has done so far this season. And it's great. Last night he took a risk, it didn't work but that's the manner of risk taking, sometimes they don't. The stick he's getting for it is totally undeserved.

He did that and then some. Way too many as it turned out. Fluency was lost.

Ring the changes when you have the match under control.

About 5 minutes to go once every 9 or 10 games? Doesn't sound like the youth blooding in policy people are up in arms about to me.

I don't know how much Kevin Marrallas knows about the Mick....sorry, League Cup, but when he saw the team selected for this match, it must have occurred to him that it wasn't that important. Maybe that explains the stark difference in his performance
at Swansea and the one at Leeds. Mucha probably played as well as he could, but there was no spark in anyone else.
Look, I only get interested in this Cup if we get to the last few. It'd be nice to win it - day out at Wembley and that, but really, who cares?. I'd much rather have a high finish in the league.

I agree. I'm talking specifically about last night, though. Start Jelavic, Baines and Pienaar and get the job done by HT, then give one or two a full half to get experience. He basically offered Leeds a big hand into the game they shouldn't have had...then the confidence of players like Junior and Gueye took a nose dive. It was just bad management. He's got his strengths as manager on the coaching and motivation side, but Moyes doesn't get enough of the key personnel decisions right - especially in cup games.

Surely this sh*t should be addressed by the manager if he really wants us to try and win the pissing thing?

Why did he have us playing like a pack of c*nts then?

Because we don't have a winning mentality that allows us to go to a team playing tough physical football in terrible conditions and with the referee protecting them and still get a result. Moyes' teams are and always have been Paper Tigers who fall to pieces when under even the slightest bit of pressure or expectation. It's why we're such a poor cup team.

I have no problem with people questioning why yet again we can't beat inferior opposition when it's a do or die match.

Having said that, I don't think Moyes threw this game. He put out a strong team and he wanted to win it, he just couldn't do it. And I think a lot of that is that our senior players didn't take responisibilty for the game. And some of them need to take a look at themselves frankly.

In terms of embarassing capitulations it's Wembley not Anfield.

we need to be winning trophies and the league cup is a trophy, and one of only 2 chances of us winning something. And it gets you the same place as the FA Cup in terms of europe.

That said, i'd rather a terrible performance came in the league cup than in the league or FA cup. Big reaction needed now. Hopefully we will put 5 passed southampton. Good to see Jelavic back too.

I said last night that i didn't blame the loss on Moyes selections and i still don't, we've lost plenty of cup games against lower league teams with far stronger teams than we had last night.

So you need to look at the overall picture and ask why a team who have constantly been in the top 8 of the Premier league have lost so many times to inferior opposition in cup games.

Its ok to say the players just didn't play well but why does it happen so often? Different players over the years but one constant : Moyes.

Has to be mentality.

Agreed. The line up was fine. The mentality wasn't.

I canlt remember all of them but weren't most of the cup games were we've gone out against lower league opposition games were we played gash and lost 1-0, or maybe went to penalties?

Very few open back and forth games where we lost 3-2, or something along those lines.
