The DUP don't represent the majority view in NI
And anyway,
Using language like 'blood red lines'. I'm quite happy for Varadkar to deal with Foster via May. Seem like the responsible thing to do
The last bit is like turkeys voting for XmasSo its either a border between N & S Ireland (highly unlikely / never happen)
Border between NI & UK (splitting the Union / wouldn't get through parliament ?)
Allowing free movement of goods and people (going against the referendum result, 17M voters kicking off - can't see any politial party trying that one)
Can't think of any other options tbh
And all the people involved in the decision have their own agendas (and I include the EU in this).
Good luck getting anthing sorted out unless S Ireland have a referendum and vote to leave the EU as well in the next couple of months
Fair point on who has the power to accept a deal.It doesn’t matter who represents the majority view. It matters who will not accept the deal, and to try and get them on board. Varadkar has played an obvious game which the DUP spotted immediately and have built up a defence ever since......
We’ve seen the chaos and bile that Brexit caused and we don’t want a repeat here
Fair point on who has the power to accept a deal.
However, I doubt anyone from the RoI has any chance of moving the DUP on any issue.
Varadkars best bet is negotiating with May, which he's doing.
So just forget it and it’ll work itself outIt won’t be, business rarely just goes away, once the politicians get out of the way, everything will settle down....

You do realise that some of those guys in NI were the DUPI think Varadkar should have met with the guys in NI, decided what they want, and then NI and the ROI tell the U.K. and EU respectively, this is what we both want........no politics, this is what we want.....
Wow, you're watching all this unfold and you think Varadkar is to blame??No he’s not. He should have negotiated one on one with May, but he left it to Barnier and the 27. He could have negotiated with the DUP and tried to allay their fears, but chose not to. He’s screwed it up tbh......
True, but when it comes to negotiations on Brexit the EU and Ireland seem to be standing by the backstop which would mean a customs border down the Irish Sea
You do realise that some of those guys in NI were the DUP
There was no way on gods green earth they would sit down with the leader of the Government of the ROI to discuss what was best for their little corner of Britain

ITs Britain’s mess let them sort it outWhats the general thoughts of the Irish people on the best solution
