NI remaining in the UK but border controls at the ports and airports, meaning it stays in the EU common market.
No border and the prospect of an economic boom for a region that's had it so hard for so long.

So border checks on stuff from NI onto the mainland? An internal UK border?

Try again.

it wont solve it, infact it will inflame the whole area again, but that is what the EU insist on apparently

I dont think they are that arsed mate. They dont need to be.

The obvious workable solution would be a reunification of Ireland, but currently, thats just not gonna happen.

Not being a tit about this, just that a few raised these issues ages ago, and were palmed off with tripe.

So its either a border between N & S Ireland (highly unlikely / never happen)

Border between NI & UK (splitting the Union / wouldn't get through parliament ?)

Allowing free movement of goods and people (going against the referendum result, 17M voters kicking off - can't see any politial party trying that one)

Can't think of any other options tbh

And all the people involved in the decision have their own agendas (and I include the EU in this).

Good luck getting anthing sorted out unless S Ireland have a referendum and vote to leave the EU as well in the next couple of months

What's the point in not meeting? Foster really has her where she wants her!

Simple really.

Those parties are irrelevant in the voting lobbies at Westminster.

It is just a pity one of those parties didn’t have nearly as many elected MPs as the DUP

Then May would not be able to be so cavalier about their opinions and those of their voters.

Not being in Ireland, it's hard for me to judge but is anyone putting pressure on SF to take their seats?

The proposed backstop is the only workable solution. NI would continue to enjoy the much needed benefits of the customs union; Unionists get to remain in the U.K. and there is no semblance of a physical border to appease Nationalism.
