Is that a itk statement on where Bill got this years transfer kitty from like?

Im well aware of how Martinez has played in the past mate, its why i capitalized the 'IF' martinez plays him in the same role he did when he arrived part, im also aware that martinez tended to bring in the type of player to suit his teams style given their limitations, moyes tried to shoehorn players way unsuited into those roles, a big difference and one that only time will tell if martinez adapts to players strengths and weaknesses something dm didnt ever really do over 11 years

I dont know mate, we had this discussion all last season about what his workload was in the half a season he had in 2011/12 and the full season just gone by. I'm not convinced there was a great difference in what he was tasked with. The assertion is just based on perception and I haven't seen any data that' persuade me otherwise. Maybe the nature of his supply was different, maybe his partnership with Fellaini rather than with Cahill impacted, but the conclusion I drew was that he just lost his first touch and his nerve in front of goal...and PL defenders may have worked his movement out to combat his threat from season one. I hope he comes good again, but I equally hope Martinez is going to give himself an option upfront other than what Moyes fell back on in playing Anichebe. We need to spend well in this area.

He's not a Rooney type capable of inventive build up play he's a Lineker or Owen ungainly outside the box but a split second sharper within. When he first arrived we were slick and quick and for some reason that died giving way to the pedestrian side to side stuff.

Deffo worth keeping till Martinez imprint takes shape when hopefully he'll be the kid again.

he's ****e running the channels or not when it came to his feet his flapped time after time see southampton, chelsea etc. if we get offered £6 mil+ take it martinez and bring in a top class striker

*taps nose*

He looks like a bingo player, doesn't he...that blank look of despair as the #9 fails to materialise for the win.

just got this mental image of bill sat with a load of blue rinse grannies switching his sheet when their not looking and when caught doing it he just starts spouting how hes been going the bingo since he was on his dads shoulders and theirs no bigger bingo fan than him

aye mate but his confidence was well wrecked by then and most of those misses came second half of the seasn when his self belief looked rock bottm, well see what happens like as im pretty sure he will be here next year still

I agree mate I think he will stay but im gutted tbh I just dont rate him he's a striker we got from the SPL who had a good 4-5 months at the club, this season he has been an abomination he just isnt a top 6 striker I would cut our losses whilst we could still use his good last season record to get us a slight profit on what we paid as should he flop again we will certainly sell at a loss which we cant really afford too.

good points dave, and tbh mate im sure that the euros with Croatia knocked his confidence a bit as bilic gave manzukich the more central role, and i reckon he came back a bit knackered to be fair. all the other points ya made are valid it really could go either way with him, obviously i just think that for what we would get selling him its worth the good chance we get the first year version not the one we saw most of this year...

Thats not saying i dont think we should invest a good proportion of whatever we have available after sales etc into someone who brings a proven record at a top league for bagging them like

Just cut the losses and sell him now, such a shame he has done a Heitinga:(

i wouldnt put them in the same boat though, jhonny didnt look arsed and frankly took the piss, jela tried his hardest and to see that just look at the reaction he had vs city, it was pure relief as hed been killing himself to do his best for us

Jelavic has three major problems.

A/ the lack of quality service.

B/ the amount of times he gets caught offside.

and more importantly

B/ the amount of times he falls over. It's pathetic.

Stay on your feet and show some strength. All he did last year is go down and appeal for the foul. Looked a frustrated figure.

Maybe with a real '10' (Barkley) and a change in attitude he'll get back to his best.

The boy can score.

If he stays at the club under Martinez he will get 20 goals for us next season.

His dip in form was down to the worst of Moyes. Under Martinez he'll be ace again.
