Getting the best out of Jelavic

people talk as if we have fernando torres he's an SPL player who had a good few months then when full season started like cisse he flopped he would be croatia's main man if he was any good not their 3rd/4th choice striker if we could get £6 mil for him sell and reinvest in someone like bony

Croatia's main man plays for the German and european champions.

danny welbeck plays for englands biggest club, doesnt make him top class does it?

Croatia havent an abundance in striking quality even if you count bayerns man as top quality (which I dont think he is) then even still jelavic should be pushing ahead of the likes of eduardo which he isnt.

Danny wellbeck weren't top scorer or score loads in europe. If he doesn't count as top quality who does?

To expect a striker at a mid table english club to oust the main man at Europe's top side is delusional IMO. It's also a crap stick to try and beat Jelavic with.

At the last major championships he started two games and was second choice.

People talk like he has only played 18 months of football. He was slotting on the regular for seasons until Moyes made him a defensive striker. His first six months with us where he scored a lot he was doing just as he had been doing before that. Only when his positional awareness was taken from him by telling him to be elsewhere and lose his sharpness by doing too much running his goals dried up. Not to mention the fact that Fellaini was played as a second striker and they mostly went for the same balls so again I feel like Moyes tactics were at fault. Luckily for me I'm pretty sure common sense will prevail and we won't sell him this summer, as said after his last season's display it wouldn't make financial sense, and as we'll have a fully rested properly played Jelavic back he'll slot 20 goals for us and it will prove my point. He's a very good finisher who knows how to get in to scoring positions. He's already proven this so I'm amazed how people can be so against him after his second season.

why isnt he ousting eduardo? why did he flop this season? why was he playing in the SPL at 27 if he was that good?

people got all misty eyed as it looked like we finally had a quality striker and now he has shown his true ability people are blindly hoping he will turn into RVP come september and the excuses Ive heard are amazing, from felliani hampering him to him wanting a pay rise to him being knackered etc. etc. maybe that defenders know how to play against him he may just not be that good?

Neither start so why would you say he isn't ousting Eduardo. Ousting him from what?

Plus he was 25 when he signed for us.

How can you say he's shown his true self. How do you know which is which?

Maybe he isn't that good. Bit early to judge for me on the back of one bad season in his whole career.

Bluenoses logic is as bad as MC Harvey when he was nobbing Javine behind alesha's back.

Excellent point well made sir.

I have every confidence that Jelavic will come good next season. He needs to be told to just work the penalty box, fcuk the channels and tracking back.

I can see Martinez playing 4-3-3, Jelavic as the main striker with Mirallas and someone like Moses either side of him.

I think so myself. It was sad to see him run his bollocks of with another 9 outfield players behind him at times.

Jelavic has had a season plagued by an injury picked up in the early game v Newcastle. But now he's fit ready to go and looking forward to pre-season training and he sees next season as a fresh start, he will be like a new signing.......

you read it here first hehehehe

Bobby will know which Jela we have after a few training sessions, if hes pyar tosh he will get rid sharpish.

I feel everything went wrong for him last Season.

He was perma offside, he had the touch of a, you know, he couldnt run with the ball and even his slotting was off.

Hopefully the break has done him good, hes looked at his game and is willing to improve it, cos the Jela I saw that first Season was an utter boss slotter.

he scored because defenders didnt know his game right? now this season defenders knew his only strength- poaching, his all round game is ****e and the defenders had him marked out the game hence why he is poor and had to try work the channels to get some space on the ball he isnt berbatov who has the ability on the ball aswell as his ability to poach he is IMO an average player who isnt good enough for a top 6 club, we persist with him as our main striker and we wont got top 6, arsenal will buy someone like higuain and spurs will bring in someone like benteke and we will fall behind best situation is jela off to fulham £6-8 mil and put it towards someone who has pace/agility etc.

I can't believe people think the tactics required to get the best out of Jelavic are basically 'goal hang'.

Last season's dip in form had a lot more to do with Jelavic himself than it did Moyes tactics. His anticipation had deserted him, as had his all round game. We can hold onto the hope that his half a season scoring spree wasn't just a flash in the pan but the reality is it probably was.

Hope you're right, and i think there's a chance but I'm not as confident as you.
