Getting the best out of Jelavic

Quite honestly I was staggered he did so well in his first season having watched him at Rangers, season two is exactly what I had expected him to be like in the first place. Will he come good again, I doubt it very much but he is a trier and a work horse, he deserves more goals than he gets, can we wait for him to come good again, simply NO

I said before he arrived he'd be gash and got murdered for it when he was slotting them for fun.

I'm hoping against hope it was second season syndrome.

Coleman played at right mid looked a bit lost their, plays at rb looks verging on world class, jela plays in the box looks world class, asked to run the channels looks a bit gash, see the trend, play a player out of position you lose a lot of what makes them effective, ALWAYS moyes biggest problem, anichebe as a winger, osman and arteta on the wing, felli up front, miralles in his worst of the three am slots quite often, list is bloody endless, ffs even neville and hibbert as cb on a few occasions. jags as a rb list goes on and on

Simple facts are some players suffer badly being played out of their preferred spot, Jela has a world class ability to make himself a half yard, and a world class first touch finish, ALL of that was sacrificed for both croatia who had him dropping deep in most games doing the donkey work for the other lid from bayern and everton had him either dropping too deep or in the channels

IF martinez plays him in the same role he did when he arrived as for example allen and lineker excelled as he will slot home 15-20 without any shadow of a doubt

You could see why Naismith/Jela worked though...in Scotland. When Naismith's central, their play does seem to work out. They're both too slow for this league though.

for an out and out slotter mate which is what jela is pace doesnt really matter, its more the ability to get that half yard which is reactions, jela has that naismith doesnt, stick a bloke with genuine vision behind him and the goals will fly in

Apparently, if you read some of the tactical blogs, Martinez has his most forward striker coming in from wide only when a full back is up and applying pressure on his opposite number. So I dont think he's going to be asked to be any less mobile.

We will soon see if that is the case with Moyes at Man u.

Van Persie won't go wrong. Rooney won't if he stays as they're both class players. Hernandez should know what type of player he is, as should Moyes. Like you said we'll see but I highly doubt it.

If we stick Jelavic up top like we did on the first season and not using him as a running man to allow other to play off him and let him poach he should score.

Im well aware of how Martinez has played in the past mate, its why i capitalized the 'IF' martinez plays him in the same role he did when he arrived part, im also aware that martinez tended to bring in the type of player to suit his teams style given their limitations, moyes tried to shoehorn players way unsuited into those roles, a big difference and one that only time will tell if martinez adapts to players strengths and weaknesses something dm didnt ever really do over 11 years

The way we played him, he had to be a complete forward and he's not. He's also not a poacher because he's got no pace. For him to be successful we'll have to have a lot sharper passing around the box and break with pace, which we didn't do much. Maybe Bert will change that, who knows...I rarely sh*tcan our players but I can't see him scoring more than 10 goals again unless things change drastically for us in our style.

Might want to read up on what a poacher is mate. Literally nothing whatsoever to do with pace.
