No, you should be judged on how you are performing. Not what you did last season or what you did two seasons ago. It's all about here and now and Jack Rodwell, alongside Pienaar, has been our most consistent midfielder.

Ofcourse he has flaws in his game, I've already said I agree with that. But you have to look at who he's competing with for a place in the side. It's not Mikel Arteta or Phil Neville, it's Tim Cahill, Marouane Fellaini and possibly Johnny Heitinga.

None of the players mentioned are proven central midfielders, none of the players mentioned look for the ball more than Rodwell and none of the players mentioned are any better at protecting our back four than Rodwell.

In an ideal world Moyes would have his first choice centre midfield (Arteta and Neville) and Rodwell would be used sparingly, but that isn't the case, we don't have quality, consistent midfielders who can let Jack step back and develop.

We're proper ****ed hahaha

Would have to say thats reaching a lot for me, many opinions presented as fact in order to state your preference lol for a change!

But i get you think highly of him as we all do! Cant help but think you have a case of the Manny's, a few hooks and your ignoring the flaws in his game at this stage of his development hopefully Davey and JAck arent as its the only way to develop. As for Cahill and Fellaini (your uncaricteristicly very harsh on both lol), every time for me to be honest speaking in the here and now im sure they havnt lost their ability over the summer - but hey Jack will be a great player we will see how Moyesy plays it - i ahve a sneaky feeling it may be the same way as i see things.

Has the flu eh!

Mikel Arteta apart, Jack Rodwell is the only player within our squad that could be considered to have the tools to play CM in the premiership.

Ignoring his flaws, where have I ignored the flaws in his game? I've said in every post I've made that Jack Rodwell isn't the finished article and still has things he needs to work on.

A case of Manny? I'd love to know what that actually means. I have never claimed Fernandes was a great player for Everton, he wasn't. My argument has always been that he 'could have been' a very good player if things had gone his way in terms of fitness, injuries and transfer dealings.

No ones saying Cahill and Fellaini have lost there ability, far from it. Has Jack Rodwell performed better than them as of now? Yes, without a doubt. That may change but as of now he deserves to play. And to be honest, looking at the players available to Moyes, I'd have Cahill and Fellaini alongside him.

And another question, who comes in and replaces Rodwell so he can develop?

DM

Its an away game so I think Moyes would prefer a solid DM. Problem is that Hettinger, Neville and Rodwell aren't in the squad. Don't think Osman, Fellaini or Cahill could take the job in the front of the back 4.

I fear this one.

Howard

Hibbert Yobo Distin Baines

Gosling Osman Fellaini Bilyaletdinov

Cahill

Jo

Only way I can see it starting tbh..

What was all that business about fellaini being a dm at standard? If he could do it for them surely he can for us in a european game? Osman central with cahill attacking mid.

Not as though we have much choice unless you want to try putting one of young defender, like Duffy or Mustafi in midfield and act as a defensive midfielder?

This should help out the defence, but you know this would not happen Moyes would go with experience, so the above would most certain to be the starting line-up.

I think he can pull it off in Europe..but he did have Defour in front of him who was like Arteta, helping out at the back, dropping deep and bringing the ball forward.

If Fellaini's left hanging on his own, he'll struggle. We may have to play a bit counter attacking. If Cahill, Ossie and Fellaini all pack the midfield and instead of just hoofing it up to the loan striker, actually spread it out to the wings and have Ossie and Cahill getting up and down - cant see it not working.

There is one more line-up we might see Moyes trying, it could be:

-------------------- Howard ------------------

------ Hibbert --- Yobo --- Distin --- Baines ----

Gosling/Osman - Osman/Fellaini - Cahill - Billy ------

--------------- Yakubu --- Jo -----------------

Then bring Fellaini or Gosling on for Yakubu in the second half and switch 4-4-1-1.
