You dont have to look far to see the themes and links of why some MP's are desperate for brexit, even better with a no deal. They stand to make absolute millions off the back of the rest of us, yet people honestly think these absolute cretins represent them and the best interests of the country.

Boris Johnson’s pro-Brexit backer Crispin Odey has made a £300m bet against British businesses and stands to make huge profits from the woes of the UK economy.

Marshall Wace, co-founded by Sir Paul Marshall, who gave £100,000 to the Vote Leave campaign, has also made bets against UK firms. The firm has taken “short” positions on 47 companies worth £1.14bn, including the outsourcing giant Kier Group, the budget airline easyJet and Severn Trent

"Project Fear" apparently....

I would bet that, like me, the vast majority who voted leave were not worried about the possibility of No Deal, because it was always there as a spectre in the background during negotiations.

Before the referendum no one was considering no deal. That only entered after it appeared an agreement couldn't be reached. You had the entire leave camp saying it would be an easy deal and poo poo'ing the thought of no deal as project fear.

They weren't worried about it because it was never mentioned! Nobody who voted leave knew what they were voting for.
I'm not sure you can make that claim. While a sizeable number clearly were let down by a lack of informed discussion about the ramifications, people did clearly vote knowing that No Deal was a possibility, despite it not being widely discussed What they have failed to acknowledge is the damage that No Deal will do but chose to focus entirely on the 'benefits' being peddled by charlatans.

I think that’s a good descriptor for the 21. In terms of what happens now, we will be having a GE unless Corbyn chickens out, which I think he will. So it’s the quickest surrender to the EU we have ever seen......
Can't see that happening. I think the LP will be more than happy to have a GE provided they can guarantee to stop a No Deal Brexit.

But nobody is going to trust a serial liar to be honest in their promises of a fixed GE date.

How many of the 21 voted for the WA 3 times? I haven't looked it up but I'd guess it's a significant amount, and it's more than Johnson did. So which of Johnson or Hammond has tried harder to leave the EU? Blusterin' Remain-voting Boris or Boring Leave-voting Phil?

I also love this faux-hardman act of calling someone who isn't agreeing to a stupid plan a 'chicken'. You never really left the school playground, did you Pedro?

And lastly, a reminder for all the Boomers that have had a chip on their shoulder their entire lives about never being able to live up to their fathers' legacies (cough cough Mark Francois et al) - we're not at war with the EU and aren't surrendering anything.

Surrender? It’s not a war fella. I know you old chaps are a bit sad you didn’t get to play soldiers for the last couple of generations but the EU is about cooperation not conflict.

Indeed, one change I would like to see is that any MP changing parties should immediately put themselves up for re-election in their constituency under their new flag.......

Absolutely bang on.
They get elected based on one set of manifesto policies then jump ship to save their own backsides and 'represent the people' under a completely different set of manifesto pledges and promises. How does that work?
It really should be stopped. If you wish to change party - then fine. But a by election should be the immediate result. No question.

Kwasi Kwarteng also questioning Corbyn's testicular fortitude to try and get him to rip his shirt off, hulk up and scream 'election now'.

That Lucas plan for an all-female government not looking so unappealing now to be honest.

In fact, Tory attitudes towards Swinson were completely the reverse when they jeered her last night for saying she wants to fight an election. I wonder what that might be.

That's exactly what I am saying and this also applies to @Hawhaw point, yes referendums are normally advisory but they don't have to be, there would be no 2nd chances, no further discussions. The result would be actioned if possible that day. Doesn't matter what I think as it would be done.

I'm sick to my back teeth of Brexit and I would just like it to be over. I believe a second referendum under these type of rules is the only way to do this.

If remain had won the referendum does anyone actually think and believe we would still be discussing it over three years later and with the misery & turmoil it has created?
No. Neither do I...

I take the point but at least it is their full time job to represent and be informed.

We also have the benefit of an executive formed from the legislature that can be advised by experts.

Referendums are a terrible thing.

Not exactly correct. In Switzerland they hold them on a fairly regular basis and their system seems to work fine.
The problem comes when the political and social elite who run the country don't like or agree with the result of the referendum.

Nick Robinson, Kuensberg, Neil, all tories, just thinking off the top of my head. Kuennsberg even got warned for her slanderous lies about Corbyn. Their panels are always Tory leaning, they even had someone from Guido Fawkes on the other day lol

And Tories say their panels are always left leaning! This is my point. Nobody is ever happy.
