So the Queen has agreed to suspend Parliament to allow the government to push through a No Deal.

It’s time we overthrow that old bat and her sponging family.
The queen had no real say. It is "protocol". The fact is they lose 3 working days to do what they have failed to do for over 2 years.

I doubt it will change anything other than give some second rate politicians a chance to air their faux outrage on twitter.

Thats a cheek Bruce -this thread has been taken over since day one by remainers and you lead the way Bruce now the chickens have come home to roost, and democrocy will win either way a referendum or a GE you complain about a few Brexiteers on here

I think that is a bit unfair, Joe.

No one has “taken over” this thread.

A question was posed, people were asked voted, people were invited to comment.

The fact that voters on this forum voted almost 2 to 1 in favour of remaining.....and given that this forum exists because of a Liverpool based football club, a city which itself voted to Remain then it is hardly surprising most contributions are from people in favour of Remain.

He will call a GE at the end of this , the house gets suspended for about 6 weeks before that so he will get to do whatever he wants at the end of it.
Even without that he has left them very little time to get anything through parliment ,thats without them pulling other scemes.
Goes to a GE as a strong leader who has done what he said he would(something we havnt seen for a while) or he is for the people agaist the establisment who wouldnt do what they were instructed to be the majority in the vote.
Playing a clever game , the opposistion will go towards there own agenda come a GE, libs will try to attack labour to gain traction and seats,
SNP.will go full on we want independance .
Labour have a problem with there leave voters there insnt any pretence of them backing leave anymore(as a leaver i will vote for them to stop boris as i think he is more danger than staying in the EU , but i fear i will be in a minority).
Think this move has just as much as much to do with a GE than anything to do with Brexit.
Parliment have pulled every stroke they can to obstruct Brexit , now up in arms when the tables have beened turned, we are getting led by a shower of donkeys, i have lost all faith in them every coming to a decent outcome over anything never mind just brexit
Cummings as you say has plotted this and will take some stopping in the next few months not to run rings around the other parties .

This really... difficult to see how Boris can lose...and we will get rid of that absurd biased speaker at the same time.....

Exactly, democracy allows people to change their minds, and opinions change sometimes over a long period of time or a short period of time

We now have a better idea of what Brexit is going to be and it's perfectly reasonable to expect that some people who voted for it would now like to change their mind and those who voted against it might now decide that they'd like to follow through on it

I think enough has changed since that initial vote that it's reasonable for us to have another vote

If you truly believe in Brexit, you'll be confident it'll win again. What do you have to fear?

Would you like to explain to us all what Brexit is going to be then.....

He thinks he is.

There is a big majority amongst MPs to avoid a no deal Brexit Khal. And they have a speaker who makes things up as he goes along.

Anything can still happen yet and I personally can't see it getting resolved until the demographics of parliament is changed. Even that would need the EU to allow the deadline to be extended.

Well yes, you are right on that point, Barney.

Mr. Dominic Grieve, for example, is a former Attorney General so it is inconceivable that Johnson’s latest stunt has taken the anti Brexit coalition group across the parties by surprise.

This option will have already been discussed among them and I have no doubt that a plan has already been put together to combat it, or is well advanced anyway.

The issue is far from resolved, as you say :)

That seems the way things will go. Difficult to predict these election results. Labour had a really energised campaign last time out and despite his faults, I think Corbyn comes across well in interviews and debates. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see a similar result to the last one to be honest.

No, but I expect someone might just stand against him this time.....

Didnt know they elect a new speaker after a GE. Always thought it was pretty much a job for life once installed, hence the need for impartiality. Which Bercow clearly isnt.

It took 40 years for conditions and sentiment to change enough on that occasion and it's taken 3 years for it to happen this time

You can't put a set time on these things, politics and sentiment are fluid

It's fair for people to vote on whether they want to accept the Brexit we're going to get or not, especially as they might end up getting something they didn't vote for

Have you changed your mind ? Neither have I, so what would be the point......

The EU have had 3 years to sort out with the U.K. what happens to its peoples. The EU have done sod all to try and sort the situation.....
They can't/don't determine what we stipulate our policy will be regarding EU Nationals in the event of No Deal.

They negotiated a Withdrawal Agreement which safeguarded EU citizens, but the UK parliament rejected it.

Explain again how that's the EU's fault?

It is, to a degree, but he must still be an elected MP. Normal protocol means he stands unopposed, but somehow I can’t see the Brexit party allowing that......
