It is mostly about the EU- Japan Deal . Even if we stayed within the EU, the removal of tariffs on cars and car parts would have taken the Japanese manufacturing back home. The Japanese are an island race who don’t really like outsiders, they put up with us and they trade with us as I did for many years, but they are not a multicultural country, they believe in looking after their own. This decision, if it comes to pass, is a fairly obvious consequence of their deal.......

Aren't the tariffs on cars not fully removed till 2027 ?

So you are prejudiced against yourself then. Understandable.
The sort of adults that think you can't have a genuine opinion on something if your surname doesn't correspond to it? That sort of adult?

Lads I know that you don’t understand these things. And we can all see that you cannot hold a reasonable conversation without getting a little group of you to try and demean comments from posters. When you all stop acting as a group and try behaving in an adult manner you will be treated accordingly. Until then you just come across as just the little bigoted Irish Group........

Given this seems to be the historic position of the Japanese and the current desire of the UK, I'm surprised that you seemed so enthusiastic and expectant of a Japanese-UK deal.

It works both ways. If a deal is done then the Japanese market will open for Range Rover and Jaguar......,and there’s nearly twice as many Japanese as British drivers.....

Just answer the question.....
Do yourself a favour Pete, and give it up. You couldn't answer me directly so started this bizarre argument of telling me to read through 2,000 pages to get an answer that you could give on a yes/no basis. You exposed yourself yet again. You told a porkie and got sussed, that's about the heap of it.

Laughable...

Don’t be silly Edge, it must be because of Brexit.....surely, everything else is....
seems so mate, might be worth a few looking at employment rights for workers in Japan v EU/UK start of with things like article 36( i think it is of the top of my head ) of there employment law that lets them work much longer hours/days if the company applies for it, exempts them from how many hours and days they work if the worker agrees, a lot of whom like here haven't got long term contracts these days, been a huge rise in that over there the worker is hardly likely to object in that scenario.
Managers don't get paid for overtime in certain scenarios either.
So not surprising they are looking at their homeland for workers, now the tariffs are coming off
Mostly just waiting till it's all over with now myself Pete with brexit , nothing really to add anymore that hasn't been said already, but if the signs around the world economically are to be believed we are in for turbulent times either within the EU or out of it ,so we will have something else to talk about soon enough.

When you asked the question, you only had to read back about ten pages max. I don’t like lazy posters......

Brexit is not a factor......

I see a free trade agreement has been set up with Japan, excellent news. Japan wishes to do exactly the same with the U.K. when we leave the EU, also excellent news. It’s looking like we would be better off with a swift clean break from the EU so that the shackles can be thrown off and our exporters can get on with their jobs......

lollollol

That is just about as demeaning, condescending and patronising as it is possible to be.

Seems you've had had one pint too many of that full strength 17.4% John Bull this evening. Yet again.

Indeed mate. There are some on here who can’t get their brain around the advantages of free trade and the benefits to their home country. Brexit will just roll on. Eiether we will leave or we will be stitched up. Whichever party ignores the referendum will pay the price........

Because I assume your Irish heritage goes back more than one generation. Varadkar while being born in Ireland is of Indian background and spent many years thereafter there. Many Indians still have a hang up about the British Raj, as Obama did about Kenya. It happens. This is not racist, this is a belonging to a certain background or wish. It’s like Irish American politicians supporting the IRA. It’s emotive but not necessarily constructive.....

No mate. They removed their territorial claim, but Varadkar wants to make a name for himself.

Like many people on here, I’m of pure Irish descent. My family trace back to the time of kings of Ireland. I have one of the oldest surnames in Ireland and am proud of it. But I cannot abide Varadkar, a good old Irish name, causing trouble between Ireland and the U.K. for political reasons.

I want our two countries to be together, separate, but as one, just like Wales and Scotland. Not a political union, but a union of similar people, as we indeed are. We have our differences, we have our arguments, but at the end of the day we are more family than anyone else in Europe.....
I don’t trust him. It may be irrational, but I don’t trust him, I think he is screwing everyone up.....
I'll just leave this here and the rest of the forum can make their own decision about who is a bigot.
