This is as a result of the EU - Japan free trade deal. The only reason Japan manufactures in the U.K. is to avoid EU tariffs, which a Brexit U.K. could have returned to them. But the EU- Japan deal means no tariffs and no need to manufacture anywhere in Europe....

No matter. We'll just get those free trade agreements with Ghana and the Faroe Islands and we'll rule the waves again.

Strange one that isn’t it. Once we are out of the EU then WTO tariffs apply unless they have a trade deal with the U.K......

Which they won't as they'll be waiting to negotiate on the best terms possible.

The company is in a mess,debt level /sales share of the market, they have laid thousands of people off in the USA, Mexico and shut two plants in Japan in the last few years,
There biggest plant has recently been modernised and retooled , hardly surprising they are going to use it.
