2025/26 David Moyes

We could be in this exact same position this time next season and some people would still want him to stay. I’ve come to the conclusion that some of our fans just don’t view the club the same way others do, they see us as West Ham or Leicester level, should just be happy cos we've struggled in the past. Hopefully TFG disagree but that statement yesterday didn't fill me with hope
Club devoid of common sense, footballing intelligence and ambition

Nothing shows the gap more than our board and some fans still supporting Lampard and the worst team we’ve ever had while Villa, who were in a similar position to us, binned off Gerrard, got Emery in (a world class manager who was available and was 100% gettable for us) and have had European football ever since, just secured Champions League football for the second time and are now a win away from a European trophy

What are you on about? Have you looked at the table?
Yes, 2 points behind the club who are apparently leaps and bounds ahead of us. Instead of being 1 point ahead, we’ve lost and now we’re behind. To a club that at the start of the season were newly promoted and after one full year, are officially ahead of us and will have a European competition to ensure their transfers are more ambitious than us again.

We are being left behind and some people are actively cheering for the teams that are leapfrogging us.

You are right that we should absolutely want more but at this stage you would have to be surprised if we actually got it right after 30 years of getting it wrong.

I will be amazed if we get the next step right, or even if we ever do at any point, given how great we seem to be at getting it wrong.

However I’ll take trying and failing over this unambitious boring approach

Absolutely spot on.

I think you’re right. It’s hard to say everyone of a certain age ie those that grew up with Moyes and Kenwright view the club differently but it does seem that way to me going off who I speak too. It’s just depressing.

We cant let him go into this summer with a year left on his contract. The club either back him give him an extension or get a new manager. Leaving things as they are doesnt take us forward. This season as far as i see it. I wouldve taken a top half finish as being progress. We dont score enough goals so to be in with a good shout of europe with seven games to go i was happy. Having been in the european places our results over the past seven games have been a terrible waste. Or is this just reslistic? Personally once it came to the crunch i think moyes has wrongly stuck with the same starting eleven and wasted a great opportunity. Mcneil has played 20 times and created one goal and moyes brought him on today.

No agent is letting their player sign for when manager might go in 12 months

Plus can you give him 150 million to spend if hes off in 12 months

Its madness

We play so deep and with the lack of pace and how cumbersome the back four is , the midfield is too easy to play through.

We will have another year of this if there isn’t proper recruitment in that area.

We play like some lower league side away at a premier league club in a cup match , erratic, no cohesion , hoping to win a flick on or an individual piece of brilliance. There doesn’t seem to be any strategy except to paper over the cracks of our weaknesses and hope something or someone does something great once jn a while.

It’s why our away form is better than the home form, the onus is on the other team to take the initiative and it suits the mentality the manager/club has, when it’s on us to take the initiative we look clueless, overly cautious and erratic .
Great post which sums up our play. Unfortunately if Moyes stays, even with close season signings, I can't see any change. The man lacks an ability to vary tactics/game plan, is dreadful with substitutions, has favourites and seems to favour runners and workhorses as signings rather than flair players. We go to the game because EFC is a big part of our lives but also we wish to be entertained. I have serious doubts Moyes can do that.

I lived in Brentford and watched them a fair but in league 2, 1 and championship cos it was local, dirt cheap and i could only afford to get up to GP 4-5 times a season ( away games in London were more doable ).

It's hard not to be impressed by seeing how these smaller clubs are leapfrogging dinosaurs like Moyes.

They're braver, they're honest, they're owners are WAY ahead of the croneys who nearly relegated us.

Moyes had his day and should go with pride. He's not part of the answer to our awful football, he's contributing to it.
