2025/26 David Moyes

I might be in the minority here, but I think he’s done an okay job. At the start of the season, I was expecting a stable, mid-table season and, let’s be honest, that’s exactly what we’ve got.

What is a bit strange is that when he came back after winning a trophy, I was expecting a bit of progress and maybe a different mentality, but he’s just exactly the same. Unfortunately for us, what he brings has a ceiling.

If he stays one more year, at least we know it’s going to be stable, but annoying. If not, I would go and get Thomas Frank, I think he would suit us as a club perfectly.
Get the Danish Moyes, yeah man 🤡

This season feels more like stagnation than stability.

Very little (if any) difference in style of play, possession, goals for, goals against, home wins, cup exits, points haul and no real development or break through stars in the team. We were two places and 4 points worse off at same stage last year (but that was with having half a season under Dyche who was pretty much universally disliked and I don’t expect anything from Spurs away) so likely to end up one point better off.

What annoys me most about it all is we had stability last season, Moyes came in , got some good results , stopped the drop in results getting worse and relegation was an afterthought. But it still gets talked about.

I hear fans saying move on from talking about the previous board and what happened yet still go on about relegation despite it not being an issue for us for a while.

sometimes I get the impression they know at the club they can’t take Everton to the heights a lot of fans want so deliberately play down things using narratives and ex players and media, to keep negativity at a minimum using almost disastrous relegations as a lightning rod to not forget to be careful what you wish for. Let them all get paid whilst simply existing and in comfort.

Think the majority would say he's done ok up to the Chelsea but since Chelsea we have manager and players have crapped themselves not been brave enough too passive to win a game to rigid in playing certain players who were completely out of form .
It’s the off the ball agression that gets me, there has to be some pressing but there has been none. It’s more about positional discipline than harrying

We could be in this exact same position this time next season and some people would still want him to stay. I’ve come to the conclusion that some of our fans just don’t view the club the same way others do, they see us as West Ham or Leicester level, should just be happy cos we've struggled in the past. Hopefully TFG disagree but that statement yesterday didn't fill me with hope

Problem is, speak to most younger football fans and they do see us a West Ham. We can argue otherwise but there's very little in the last 30 years to back up our claims of being bigger.

This isn't a small period of struggle. It's terminal decline.

Agree completely with those comments. I’m not sure what aspirations TFG have for the club, only time will tell, but if they have any sort of ambition, Kinnear will have to watch himself as those comments yesterday were corporate bingo bullsh1t and won’t have done him any favours.

I do wonder whether Moyes having the experience he has (not just in general football but also of having managed us for as long as he did) means they are deferential to him regardless of objectives set and whether they were achieved.

I think today is a good example of why, if this club is to go forward, you absolutely cannot give Moyes the reigns to spending in the summer. If he is still here, theres no way you can give him another 100m to spend, when he has either A. Failed to use the players he bought last summer, or B. Bought bad players. He did well with Thellwells players, but has done nothing to elevate beyond that.

I said all season my view was that if he made europe he should get another season. If he missed it, it depended on the results, and with how easy europe is to qualify for this season, missing out on it at a likely 53 points gives no confidence he has the ability to elevate the club beyond mid-table.
