2025/26 David Moyes

We could be in this exact same position this time next season and some people would still want him to stay. I’ve come to the conclusion that some of our fans just don’t view the club the same way others do, they see us as West Ham or Leicester level, should just be happy cos we've struggled in the past. Hopefully TFG disagree but that statement yesterday didn't fill me with hope
Like a modern day Coventry. They used to just exist and their claim to fame was they hadn't been relegated for decades. And then they got relegated.

Living through the 80s sets the Everton idea of success bar higher.
Anyone who came after and only recollection is the Kenwright years was brainwashed by him and Moyes to accept mediocrity as standard.

On a different note, I really hope Sunderland achieve Europe. What a story that would be at first season back in PL.
Over Everton?? Because that’s who they’ve just directly leapfrogged.

Another team that has surpassed us then. ‘We’re making progress’ whilst everyone else gets Europe

I argue the toss with anyone I meet but if someone says West Ham and Everton have been at a similar level the past 30 years they're probably about right.
That should have no implication on if we keep Moyes though? Villa got relegated a few years ago, look at them now. My point is we shouldn't be looking at WH and worrying. We should be more than capable enough to replace him when the time comes.

You can accept finishing below the teams in the top 5 or Chelsea or Newcastle for example, even Brighton.

But not promoted Sunderland who declared after getting 40 points. Brentford who've hardly won in months and have a set piece coach as manager and lost all their forwards in the summer. Or Bournemouth who lost all their defenders in the summer and have had a lot of injuries.

On the other hand you can say at least we're not West Ham but we know you can get into a tailspin at the bottom. We had the momentum to get Europe and blew it.

You are right that we should absolutely want more but at this stage you would have to be surprised if we actually got it right after 30 years of getting it wrong.
