2025/26 David Moyes

So it was a general thing he said? that doesn't mean it doesn't relate to Branthwaite? Especially if he continues playing him at LB.
I think he played Branthwaite at LB because he doesn't want to play Mykolenko or Aznou, just like he plays O'Brien at RB because he doesn't want to play Patterson. I'm really not a fan of it, especially because Branthwaite's so good, but in fairness our options aren't great.

He is, but don’t you think he looks slightly better when Branthwaite’s at CB covering for him? The biggest problem with Mykolenko is he can’t really offer much going forward, and Branthwaite isn’t exactly giving you that from out wide either.

Oh I think it's a really terrible idea to have Branthwaite left back.

But I understand an appetite to not play Mykolenko.

I really struggle with Mykolenko, but I'd still play him.

TFG could just allow Moyes' contract to wind down, I suppose. It's happened with Glasner and Iraola this season with different results.

IIRC Kenwright and Moyes went into the final season of his contract before Moyes re-signed.

That might be the preferred option for the owners this summer.

So far Moyes hasn't done enough to get rewarded; but has he done that badly (football quality aside) to be sacked?

My fear is that if they keep him on we wont see the level of spending this summer we require.
Is this your way of saying he's actually doing an alright job.

In Moyes' defence.

Mykolenko is absolutely terrible.

As in, really bad.
Whats boils my proverbial there is that Myko has the “experience” that Moyes values so much but he’ll play JB in that position because apparently playing young CBs at FB is the done thing. All the while we have one experienced CB being an utter liability and a young, actual LB rotting on the bench.

So many pegs in wrong-shaped holes that the fella can’t even keep his own story straight.

He isn't just playing his favourites, he's playing the biggest characters of the dressing room.
That will hold things together longer on his side.

It's players like Garner and Branthwaite that could tip it.
Especially once international breaks come around.

He uses his wording in a way that he is bigging them up by saying they are that good they can adequately play multiple positions, though that will only hold out for so long.

Keep the bigger voices on your side.

He played Brantwaite for his height. Look at who he was up against and all of Pickford's kicks went to.

We don’t really know that, though, do we?

Patterson has not pulled up trees but he’s been absolutely fine. Aznou hasn’t looked like the lost child you’d expect him to given his treatment so far, when he’s had a rare few minutes.

He has his idea of who the best XI players in the squad are and he’ll have them all on the pitch at once, and in so doing will completely forsake any notion of balance.

We all know he loves a grockfest, I just wish he wouldn’t dress it up as some rite of passage to gain the mythical Experience that is the only key into one of his starting lineups.

Also - How many times did that height advantage actually pay off in the game? Certainly not during one of the 17,000 pathetic corner routines.

It’s just all a bit negative or ‘meh’ isn’t it. No excitement going into games at all. Very very glad that we are nowhere near a relegation battle this year, but at least that meant we had some sort of feeling going into games (the mixture of dread and hope). This is just nothing now, manager not giving us any reason to believe in pressers or on the pitch.

Exactly. The fee is the issue. I would expect someone a lot further on career wise for that money. Someone must have seen something in him from his Southampton days but its a gamble on somebody so young. If he has not kicked on yet all you can do is give him more time.

I have a feeling we may have another Moise Kean on our hands as in a late developer
I would hold the manager to account, he has said go ahead and buy now he is saying improve. Horrendous management.

That was an early presser.

Really not sure whether to bother with this or swerve it.
Suppose I can always hit play then dwell on whether to stick out or not in the ensuing 15 mins while sorts his coffee out and has his 13:30 cack.

Edit - have they cropped the recording (for once) or was he actually on time this week?
