David Moyes - all reaction here

Could make for some serious vaulting this thread. Formed by analysis of 11 years of management for one club, and compared to 8 months management of another club with a clearly ailing first choice XI.

I doubt very few people didn't wonder at United's title last season just how they did it. So many dodgy moments but they got through nearly all of them.

Matches they struggled in - at some point

Everton away 0-1
Fulham home 3-2 (from 0-1)
Soton away 3-2 (from 0-1 and 1-2) - two goals late on
Liverpool away 2-1 (h-t 0-1)
Spurs home 2-3
Stoke home 4-2 (from 0-1)
Chelsea away 3-2 (gave up 2-0 lead)
Villa away 3-2 (from 0-2)
Norwich away 0-1
QPR home 3-1 (from 0-1)
Reading away 4-3 (from 0-1 and 2-3)
City away 3-2 (gave up 2-0 lead, 93rd min winner)
Newcastle home 4-3 (3 times behind)
Southampton home 2-1 (from 0-1)
Man City home 1-2
West Ham away 2-2 (twice behind)
Arsenal away 1-1 (from 0-1)
Chelsea home 0-1
Swansea home 2-1 (late winner)
West Brom away 5-5

That's 20 of the 38 games but they found the strength to still get 39 points from them. The current manager doesn't seem to have the ability or will to do the same as his predecessor. Then again - no Scholes.

This time round they've been behind in 14 of 29 games - roughly the same ratio - but only achieved 3 wins and 11 points (3 wins 2 draws 9 defeats). Looks like a case of No Plan B.

By way of comparison Everton have been behind in 11 games this season - achieving 2 wins and 4 draws from those 11 games.

It's been already mentioned but Alex Ferguson hanging around is doing him no favors, his continuity should have been SAFs back room staff. He would have the continuity and the control, now he has neither. If United want to fix this they have to get rid of Moyes, Ferguson, Round, Neville, Woods etc. As a club, they need to come out from Fergusons shadow.

Fergie is entitled to hang around and watch the team in his retirement. Big managers like Jose wouldn't have any trouble with Fergie hanging around.

Moyes is his own man, that's why he got shut of all of SAF backroom staff, I couldn't imagine him asking anyone for advice, he has to do it his way IMO

But to bring in a team who won nothing, and got rid of a team who have won stuff and knew the players, what makes them tick, advice on training and their quirks. He should have kept the backroom staff and changed it slowly over time. There was no need to hire Phil Neville, thank god he did and got him away from us. I'm dreading the day Martinez hired him when he sacked from Man u.

I have really tried to support the lad had arguments on here had loads of arguments with United fans over it but I have to admit I got it wrong

I have had since July and the pre season games to form my opinion

I just cannot see one positive in him whatsoever

1. No personality
2. Negative football
3. Doffing the cap to all and sundry in the press conferences

I would get rid of him now and bring Mike Phelan back as Caretaker Manager for the rest of the season

As people on here know I don't take these things lightly

All my mates are died in the well proper United and feel the same way

Fair play to you Nev for admitting your mistake.

Those who are saying "it was always an impossible job" are totally wrong though. Sure, a rebuilding is required at Old Trafford, but given the players in your squad and the money available United should still have been nailed on for a Champions League place. If he could have delivered that ( like any manager up to the job could have done ) then he'd have been given more time and might have learnt from his mistakes ( though I doubt that ). He's still an average to good manager, but has been shown that he's no more than that. If he's still your manager come August then there's something badly wrong at Old Trafford. You'd have been better off with Steve Bruce.

if zaha was so good, why is he on the bench for cardiff? who are even worse than the team he played for last season. i know he's young, but still, i just haven't seen anything in the little amounts i've seen of him that points to massive potential.

Evening Toffees

I was wrong about David Moyes

He isn't the Man

At the time he seemed the perfect appointment

The majority of match going United feel the same way

But why?

Moyes is doing nowt at United he didn't do here.

Many of us on here were baffled as to why United would go out and headhunt this one dimensional, rank average manager.

And if the Glazers had read GOT for the past three years rather than listen to Moyesie's mate Fergie they would not have made that bizarre appointment :D

But many thanks to Sralex anyway....without his intervention Moyes would still be here.

I've found Evra's behaviour over Moyes' tenure very interesting.

As one of the ring leaders in the very public revolt against Raymond Domenech in the 2010 world cup i'd have expected him to be one of those who would agitate against Moyes if results went pear shaped especially after Moyes's public pursuit of Baines. A bit like how John Terry tried to rebel against Capello and then did the same to AVB.

However he seems to be one of the senior players who is supporting him, far more so than Vidic, Rio etc.

Some FM radio posted this up somewhere on social media. Found it's way to my feed.

With a World Cup coming up, the last thing Evra will want to do is to be showing signs of 2010

The French press already have an axe to grind with him

They've never forgiven the players for 2010. Evra will never be able to make it right in their minds. Evra will want to avoid giving them ammunition when so close to the eve of the tournament

He just reminds me of a showpony winger every time I've seen him for cardiff. I can see why moyes doesn't rate him
He has barely played for Cardiff. One start and a couple of sub appearances. Moyes doesn't rate him because he doesn't trust him. He is not a predictable player, he plays on instinct, (Moyes will love that!) which, after more games at the top level, will be used more consistently than now.
He is the most skilful player with the ball that I have ever seen at Palace in 45 years. Last season all opposing teams double marked him and a couple even triple marked him.
He has an eye for goal and is sharp around the box (see play off SF v Br***on) but his decision making is not yet perfect. He will, on occasion, try to beat one man too many or go for the outrageous pass when a simple lay off will do. With games, he will be a *adopts annoying faux cockney accent and begins to twitch* top, top, top player. Fantastic.
