David Moyes - all reaction here

Think they'll go out of the champos league tonight.

They can't keep a clean sheet, and I can't see them scoring loads either.

Gonna be 2.1 or 3.1.

They picked Moyes for several reason.

Fergy wanted him
He was free
He knows the PL
He has a decent record.

Moyes made a few mistakes.
He disrespected Everton in many ways, not signing a new contract, joke bids, being at United when he was still our manager and under contract. Causes us all to curse him.

Sacked the whole back room staff and brought in Neville who has 0 experience.

Like the media he completely over rated the Man U team.

Like Fergy never fixed the midfield issue.

Has wasted 70 mil on 2 players they didn't need.

Hasn't been able to keep RVP fit.

Fergy is also to blame as he spent millions on donkeys in recent years....Cleverly,Jones,Smalling,Anderson non of which are top 6 players.
He never spent big money buying a Scholes replacement.

The players are to blame,

Believed there own hype and have not tried
Like school kids the teacher away so miss behave for the sub teacher.
A few have come out and said there leaving vidic and Evra, which would never happen in Fergy time.

Finally other teams and ref's have lost the fear factor they had of going to OT. Example of this when was the last time united conceded 3 pens in a season at OT let alone 1 game.
I've seen us denied a few stone wallers there only for them to dive and get a pen.

No team can win for ever in England.

Isn't the truth of the matter simply that Moyes is nowt more than an average coach?

No matter what way you cut it his tactical nous left a lot to be desired during his time here and it is merely being carried on over at OT.

He became a media favourite and there was never any critical analysis of his failures here every time we lost a crunch game.

All we ever heard on TV and radio was "Moyes can do more at Everton giving the financial restraints".

In any other era he would have been booted out of Goodison several years ago and he just touched lucky to be here in the days of Uncle Billy whom never put him under any pressure.......and a fan base which was so de-moralised most believed all the bollox about "plucky little Everton" and about how we were "punching above our weight" and about "how lucky we are to have Mr. Moyes".

The more I think about it I am inclined to agree with the poster who said it is indeed Ferguson's fault.

How the heck did he not see what had become glaringly obvious to many on this very forum over the past three or four years?

Whatever about it, thank God he is no longer our problem.

But what I am increasingly uncomfortable and angry with is the way our club is now constantly being linked with his failure at OT and remarks like "taking over at Harrad's after running a corner shop" is presenting a very negative image of EFC.

I know I shouldn't quote that twit (with an "a") Adrian Durham but I caught a few minutes of him on the car radio yesterday and he said "moving from Everton to United is like moving from the non league to the Championship".

He's a shock jock bugger, I know, but it makes me darned angry when I hear my beloved football club talked about in that manner.

Tactically, hes limited - no plan B and worryingly for Utd he doesnt seem to realise and if he does he is to stubborn to change his philosphey.

Still has to come to Goodison.

Can United attually afford to sack him?

United are 700+ mil in debt which they manage with CL money and TV money plus top 4 placing as well as sponsors and stuff.

Moyes is on a 6 year contract and I'm guessing 6-7 mil a year. So to sack him now would cost min of 30 mil.

They spent 70 mil to get in the top 4 an hasn't worked

Out of desperation to keep Rooney they sat a bad president by giving him 300k a week. RVP will want the same. Any players they sign will want similar.

They Floated on the stock market but seen there stock price plummet.
As there not in the race for the title there TV money will be a lot less.
there income will be dramatically lower, probably by at least 60 mil off the CL alone.

Less games next season mean less gate money, less corporate, less sponsor probably another 20mil.
They need to buy 3-4 players to get back in the top 4 which is another 60-70 mil min. As Vidic and Evra both leaving on a free. Which is harder with no CL and there desperate so prices are higher.

To summerise
Spent 100+ mil
Lost about 80 mil in CL money/tv money/corp/league placing
Need to spend another 100 mil
Sacking Moyes 30 mil
New manager 6-7 mil

They could end up minus 230mil with no Europe and no guantee off getting in the top 4 again next season

Its simple to me.

Getting Everton consistant top 7/8 is not exactly miraculas......BUT it WAS made out to be just that.

That word that now has a new meaning...."success", was designed by Moyes and the whole PR train that followed.

Utd Supporter here..
In reply to the above post
The debt is well under 350m with intrest payments only upto 20m/year.
Also the money incoming is enormous.Nike and Chevrolet make up over 115m a year in sponsorships.
Also United have a many other sponsors which could form a Sponsorship XI which bring like 1-2m in sponsor money.

Money is not the problem at all. Actually United have never spent such amount.
The problem is should we trust Moyes with such a huge amount. 100-150m is the amount suggested.
Also Moyes earns 5m/year. Utd board are not so inept. The will have put some clauses in his contract regarding his pay as well.
Just want him gone.Inept manager stealing a living.

Biggest difference between Ferguson and Moyes is attitude. Ferguson had a winning mentality, in every pre-match press conference it was 'we will' not the Moyes mantra of 'we'll try'. For me that's also the stark contrast between Moyes and Martinez, and I said it at the start of the season, it was as if the dark cloud above Goodison had been lifted, that same dark cloud is now above Old Trafford. Players don't respond well to negativity, they're human beings after all.
