It would be funny to see them go out.

I for one want them to go through tonight, some dramatic 3-0 win in the dying minutes.

Then draw Real Madrid in the next round and everyone can see how far they have fallen when ronaldo bags a hat trick against them.

That could be a fun game to watch, see his tactical genius in full viewing.

About 90 minutes (plus injury time) worth of football matches?

Expect Olympiakos to score first, United to batter them for the rest of the game, go 3-1 up and the grandstand, can they save Moyes' job, final 10 minutes... pure Theatre of.. Dreams/Nightmares depending on the final outcome and where you stand on his position as United manager.

I'm going for Man Utd 3-1 Olympiakos (aet)

United will win 2-0 after 90 minutes to take the game to extra time. Just after the interval in extra time, they'll go 3-0 up. I can picture it now, huge outpouring of relief around Old Trafford, Javier Hernandez the substitute wheeling away with a look of delight on his chipmunk face, Moyes and Neville punching the air on the touchline, commentators banging on about how United have "done it" and "this could be the turning point for Moyes", chorus of tedious "UNITED ARE THE TEAM FOR ME" chants

Then comes the great deflation. 118 minutes, free kick whipped in from the right, hits Jonny Evans in the midriff and falls straight to a big Greek centre back who sweeps it home. Textbook. And we get to see this face again

Haha, I love that picture.

All this re-writing of history is a bit silly.

Its almost like some people have chosen to forget the 90s.

Moyes took a Club that was relegation fodder to the Champions League, he had his best players sold every season and his astute eye for a bargain meant that we kept a very high league postion, sadly we couldnt crash through the glass ceiling and the massive amounts of money that other clubs threw at their squads in terms of player purchases and wages made it very difficult.

He was far from perfect, we struggled at times in the cups and his big game mentality was very lacking, we did manage to get to a Cup Final but sadly met a big game group of players and manager and got what we deserved, others times we got what we deserved due to the tactics of our manager, other times the mentality of the players.

We wouldnt be where we are if not for Moyes, of that theres no doubt, I doubt anybody else could have left us in such a great postion, we are on the cusp of something, but theres still that glass ceiling, that I doubt we will be throwing at money anytime soon. Martinez certainly has a big game mentality, a refreshing approach to tactics and hopefully this will take us to "the next level", but for me, theres some question marks on his transfer dealings, hopefully he can address them in the Summer and he can do what Moyes couldnt, win a shiny.

I'll summarize my thoughts on Davey.

- Fergie left him with an aging squad, of which about half needed replacing for them to continue to challenge for the premiership. Fergie alone won it last year.
- Dave always worked best under a budget and spent it like his own, having so much to spend is practically working against him now because if he signs a flop it'll be used as a stick to beat him with, rather than, 'wow you picked up Tim Cahill for £2m?'
- Getting rid of Rene and the rest was a dire decision.
- He believed his own hype too much.
- He's tactically inept, and foolishly has no attacking coaches in his ear to help his shortcomings.
- The older heads in the dressing room don't respect him, and I do feel sorry for him in that respect. There's little else he could have done with some of them, who were Fergie's players through and through.

So yeah he was never going to succeed. Soon as he took over I said the best job in football will be following Moyes at United.

Who are these "best players sold every season"?

Rooney 2004.

Arteta when he went.

Peinaar maybe.

All three wanted to leave when they did so it wasn't exactly like when Big Dunc was sold behind Walter's back.

Other than those three I am struggling to think of our "best player" being sold, either with or without Moyes's agreement.

Certainly not the likes of Saha.

And don't say Lescott because he wasn't even the best centre half we had at the time and the money was used to buy a better replacement at a fraction of the price.

The only person "re-writing history" is your good self.

He was always fighting a losing battle trying to steady the ship of the team that had just won the league by 11 points

I think Goat also meant the continuum of being let down by the board/sheer misfortune in the transfer market. Moutinho, Fernandes, Fer are a few names that spring to mind.
