It wasn't that much of an impossible job. He got the Utd job MONTHS before the end of last season. He had AMPLE time to assess the squad and line up players. Even we know that Cleverley, Young, Anderson, Ferdinand etc are not good enough and that a 40 Giggs should really not be playing. He has already spent over 60m on players AND still has Rooney and RVP. No, it wasn't an impossible job. He completely screwed it up by spending his summer only chasing Fabregas, Fellani and Baines with no back ups whatsoever. He's out of his depth and he doesn't have the right coaching team around him. He's a dinosaur. Christ, even Mourinho realized he needed to change his style when he went back to chelsea.

Then when things go wrong he goes into his Joan of Arc impression, full blown martyrdom like Jesus on the cross saying "forgive them father they know not what they do". It's cat-nip to supporters probably astonished by decades of Terry Venables wide boy routine, George Graham thieving, Hoddle blaming the disabled, Sven nobbing weather girls and umpteen other nefarious/nob'ead activities from his compadres.
The Moyes limitations always acknowledged by even his most ardent supporters vanish into the ether with this, yet, as always when a conman is exposed people can't see how they were taken in. He was here years longer than he deserved.
His name will become an insult ("another Moyes") as the years roll on.
The saving grace is when he gets the boot hopefully that puts a lid on further debate about him re Everton and we can ALL get on with backing the blue boys and Roberto.

the thing is, it stopped being a miracle a good 6/7 years back. we were just achieving what we should have, we weren't overachieving anymore if you based our team compared to others in the league. when he got us 4th that was a miracle. we stagnated in the last 5/6 years, we just sort of finished where we should be finishing.
i never understand the media's agenda that we constantly overachieved - you can't overachieve every single season if you're staying around 6th to 8th - that's just your level. only in financial terms did we overachieve. he did brilliantly in his first half tenure here and did well in the second half, he just didn't take us to the next level. he just had us performing as we should be and it was above his limit IMO. His highest level is that flirting with europe every now and then stage, no higher.
