I wonder what'll happen with him when they do get rid. I do think he could be a shrewd appointment for a bottom half side looking to climb the league, like he was for us, but would he be able to accept that kind of job? It'd look terrible, making the climb from the bottom of the league, to the top 6, to the biggest club in the country over 11 years and then falling all the way down the ladder in the space of a year or so.

I could see him taking some time out from the game tbh. He tries to act tough and resolute, but I think all this will have really hurt him.

Was an impossible job, especially with Fergie's presence constantly being there.

Still think he should be given another season, considering it's still Fergies' (mostly jarg) team.

The more I think about it though, was it really that impossible? Yes, a new manager would be very unlikely to come close to Ferguson's domestic record but his European achievements were considerably less noteable - one CL win that would be remembered as the spawniest ever if 2005 hadnt happened, and one CL win that was down to EBJT falling on his arse.

He'll take a few years out, then once Rangers get back into the spl, celtic will get rid of Lennon and appoint moyes

I have really tried to support the lad had arguments on here had loads of arguments with United fans over it but I have to admit I got it wrong

I have had since July and the pre season games to form my opinion

I just cannot see one positive in him whatsoever

1. No personality
2. Negative football
3. Doffing the cap to all and sundry in the press conferences

I would get rid of him now and bring Mike Phelan back as Caretaker Manager for the rest of the season

As people on here know I don't take these things lightly

All my mates are died in the well proper United and feel the same way

Impossible?

LOL

Buy players, win games.

As in how do you follow Ferguson's footsteps.

Regarding transfers, that's as much (if not moreso) Woodward and Co's fault. Moyes assigns the targets and then the board offered measly transfer fees for Fabregas, Baines, etc.

It was very far from an impossible job for me. He inherited the reigning PL champions, who had won the title at a canter. The team was full of international players and he had both the funds and the stature (of club) to reinforce that squad considerably.

I mean he's got a squad of practically 30 senior players, all of whom are internationals. That's probably 10 more than he ever had with us.

I don't believe its a personnel thing with him at all. With the talent at his disposal plus the resources to bring in his own players, United should have been easily in the top 4, especially as the league has lacked a clear favourite all year. The last few seasons has seen the title decided by a team losing 5 games. The winner this year will lose more than that I reckon.

What's more, he moved to a club shaped by Ferguson. The fans and administration there are well aware that it took Ferguson a while to build his team. They weren't about to knee jerk him out the door if he didn't win the league by Christmas. Yet it's got to the stage where even that leniency is wearing thin.

Evening Toffees

I was wrong about David Moyes

He isn't the Man

At the time he seemed the perfect appointment

The majority of match going United feel the same way

You gave him plenty of time yourself Nev to be fair

Lesser men than yourself would have turned on him long before you did

You have my respect for that

Controversially, I think he could save it, but it would require him getting a brand new back room staff and being ruthless with the axe in regards to Round and Philip

He also needs to spend money but on the CORRECT players.

I doubt he'll get the chance though

nev, he's not only wrong...he's a wrong un.

nev, SAF was a fantastic manager...the best British manager of all time, as he proved. But he seriously put United in peril foisting that neanderthal on your club.

He's wrong on just about every level for United. He's tactically naive, about as charismatic as an Amish farmer, and pulls off the paradox of being both arrogant and nasty-arsed and craven and cowardly too. How that tool could ever have been thought capable of running an institution like United will be a constant source of bewilderment for generations of football fans to come.

TBH thats why I think Ferguson picked him - if they had gone for Mou, Guardiola or even someone like Klopp then Sir Alex would have been Paisleyed long before now.

Dont buy that for a second. He thought he could do the job, because they similar, (in some ways), people.

If 2014 Moyes went to Utd in 1988, he would have done ok. Not Fergie esq, but ok.

Their board loved the idea of him working on tight budgets, (proven record there), but were blind to the important limitations that only match going blues, and me, were aware of.

I said at the time he went to Nev that his talents wernt needed at Utd, and that I couldnt see Moyes develop his weaknesses in time, if ever.
