Thats the first time I have heard anyone reference oxygen support. It sounds dramatic, but actually isnt, and is a piece of cake to administer to a post vent patient. (I was allowed to pop Mrs R onto hers when needed ffs!)
Basically, a vent replaces the lungs till they are strong enough to work well enough to support a heart. Once off it, most patients will need access to oxygen, and its just a pressurised tank and a tube. Totally mobile, like a gas canister you might have for a caravan cooker.
There was a point I had in mind when I started this, but ffs, its slipped my mind.
Oh, yeah. The tanks can be used at home.
