Need to lay off their fear mongering to score political points.

I argued weeks ago that a bi-partisan emergency government should be set up to deal with this crises. It's unprecedented. Whatever your political colours, it's irrelevant. Everybody has to join together to beat this. It's absurd to think otherwise.

But let's not attempt to gain political capitol in a tragedy. Unfortunately some folks can't see the wood for the trees.

Anybody that thinks the police are 'enjoying' these new powers needs to give their head a wobble

The majority of them are embarrassed that they've got to approach people and tell them what to do - They basically had some new laws foisted upon them without any prior warning from the government and have been ordered to carry them out.

No mate, he was going out to exercise from his home as is permitted.

However some busy body took it upon themselves to phone the Polis and tell porkies about what he was doing.

I`m massively pro law and order, but there has to be a degree of common sense applied in all this.

He lives in a village, where the nearest shop is five miles away and they have a population of about 500.

Too many people with too much time on their hands.

No you've taken it up wrong, I'm talking about the importance of people's lives against other people's lives, whatever we do is 100% going to cost lives, so do we need to prioritise the lives of the elderly from this virus or the lives of alot of younger people who will certainly suffer mentally from financial issues and the suicide rate will rise dramatically, are you saying that the future lives that will be lost are not as equally important as those we are trying to save now? Because that's how I read your comment.
not having a go but hopefully when this is all over people will re evaluate their lives
Do we need the second car ,does it have to be a range rover.
Do we need 3 foreign holidays a year
Do we need to keep up with the Jones
Do we need takeaways and meals out 3 times a week
maybe people will realise that we can get by on a lot less.
I have 300 euro burning a hole in my pocket every week now that i cant go out and socialise.
I had 3 holidays booked ,easter June July probably all gone
Will I survive without them ,yes.
One thing I know .this pandemic has given me a fresh outlook on whats important in life

Ireland: government advises practising safe sex and hygienic masturbation
Rory Carroll

Rory Carroll
Ireland has issued guidelines on safe sex during the coronavirus pandemic, writes Rory Carroll in Dublin.
Only be sexually active with someone you live with and who does not have the virus or symptoms of the virus, and avoid kissing anyone outside your household or who has symptoms, say the Health Service Executive guidelines.
“Taking a break from physical and face-to-face interactions is worth considering, especially if you meet your sex partners online or make a living by having sex. Consider using video dates, sexting or chat rooms. Make sure to disinfect keyboards and touch screens that you share with others.”
Masturbation will not spread coronavirus, it adds. “Especially if you wash your hands (and any sex toys) with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after.”

I don’t think the majority of the police are enjoying them the majority of them are doing their job Well in difficult and trying times. They have a job to do I understand that but they also have discretion, a brain and a heart and I’ve seen certain examples that I find disappointing. Feels reasonable to discuss them as others have done , doesn’t mean I or any other poster are blanket criticising the whole organisation. As I quoted above it’s suggested senior police officers nationwide have recognised changes need to be made to enforcement, if they can see it and raise it I think we’re entitled to as well .

It's fair enough to discuss individual examples, and of course some members of the Police are going to make poor decisions (Just like Jack Grealish - that doesn't make all footballers massive bellends)

Police are just a very easy target as usual - All the love for the NHS and none for the Police

Neither of them want to do the job they're currently doing

people are already struggling paying 2000 a month for a 2 bed apartment
If they cant pay for 3 months that's 6000
Spread it over the next 12 months and that another 500 a month they simply cant afford

So they move out...

I'm carrying on paying my rent at the moment because I'm on 80% wages but if I suddenly had no income I'd have to move out and find another solution.

Edit: Also if you're spending £2k p/m on rent and it's not a castle you need to sort yourself out.
