Barcelona did that better - everyone took a cut (70%) and the players guaranteed the non playing staff got the 70% back.

Yeh there are nice gestures like that that can be done but I don't see a problem a club using the scheme to pay the dinnerladies. Sure PL clubs are rich but so are a lot of companies out there using the scheme.

Am I alone in feeling a bit queasy with PL clubs using this Government wages scheme to pay their non playing staff?

Doesnt feel that was what it was meant for if I am honest.

Definitely not what its intended for but its allowed.

Looks pretty bad for their players though. Earning 6 figures a week for doing the square root of zilch for months.

I don't think it's wrong that a club should use the scheme, I think what most people look at (and it's the bit that probably doesn't sit right) is the obscene amount of wages clubs are still paying their players, I know it's in their contract etc.

Oh yeh, like I say nice gestures, you'd hope players would donate some of their wages to cover the other staff but I suspect most players just don't give a s*** to be honest.

Because the testing kits are not mechanical or requiring the technology that Dyson Produces. It requires Pharmaceutical companies, of which we have many, but the kits have to work properly, unlike the crap that China is sending to Spain....

So Pharmaceutical companies in the UK can't make test kits that work? So have to import them?

Tbf they are doing keepy uppy in their gardens......surely that’s worth £1,000,000 a month......

Can I put that in blunter terms mate. We have to look at the importance of the economy over peoples lives. That's what I'm reading and is that what you are advocating?
No you've taken it up wrong, I'm talking about the importance of people's lives against other people's lives, whatever we do is 100% going to cost lives, so do we need to prioritise the lives of the elderly from this virus or the lives of alot of younger people who will certainly suffer mentally from financial issues and the suicide rate will rise dramatically, are you saying that the future lives that will be lost are not as equally important as those we are trying to save now? Because that's how I read your comment.

So what are you suggesting?
I'm not suggesting anything I'm saying that it's a debate that needs to be had, even though it's a horrible thing to have to debate, in it's most basic and blurb form the topic for debate is "should we prioritize the lives of the elderly with chronic underlying illness over the lives of those who will inevitably kill themselves due to the economic crisis caused by our current actions"?

There needs to be a debate, but emphatically not that one.

The choice isn’t between the two; it’s between having a healthcare system that can cope with things like this or not.

Or to put it another way, do you think it’s fair that a 70 year old man, who worked manual labour all his life, paid all his taxes (not like he had a choice) should be told that the one time he needs the NHS for himself that he doesn’t rate as valuable as the 35 year old next in line to be treated and so should be left to gasp to death?

I think what we can agree on, is the questions we are raising will probably be debated by historians. We're only cogs mate. We can make our comments as we see them. Your opinion is just as valid as mine mate.
