It may be purely be coincidental (correlation not causation), but domestic violence has already jumped significantly in some parts of France since the outbreak.

Our figures will definitely show at least a 15% increase in many of the major cities, and with that figure I’m being very, very cautious.

I don’t think is any doubt about it , confined environment those prone to it are going to increase offending .

Coping mechanisms have basically gone for so many people be that in mental health or other areas , I think we’ll see huge issues across that field as isolation increases .

but as a society we have to be aware of the long and difficult road that lays ahead of us and if the poster wants to speculate on the damage and how it’ll impact on his country

Aye and I agree with that but the journey will be longer and harder if you are faced with millions of deaths instead of thousands. And that's what we are looking at here make no mistake.

We have to limit the mortality rate here. Not get back to work and say, ahh it'll all be grand.

again no argument but 6 months of this like this then god knows where we are . Everything has limits , Without real testing our strategy is buying time but that’s not really a Plan long term is it ? Things will start to stretch at the seams particularly as the police stop people for driving cars or having 2 runs . You see somebody stopped for Siting on a bench but it’s ok for Johnny to go to work and deliver pizzas I just can’t get my head around it .

i’m doing what I’ve been asked to do , as out most of us and I think we all knew this was going to be more than a couple of weeks . The implications of a government simply not being prepared whilst US politicians sold their stock Is going to be on all our shoulders for a long long time .

Johnson claimed 12 days ago that testing would be 'ramped up' from 5 000 tests a day, the to 10 000 then to 25 000 then to 250 000 a day.

"Boris Johnson says the Government is "ramping up testing" to attempt to treat a quarter of a million people a day, as he said the UK could "turn the tide" on coronavirus in 12 weeks.
The Prime Minister said the first UK patient had entered a clinical trial for treatment of coronavirus, and the Government was hoping to invest in a new "antibody test" for the disease that would allow it to test more people.
"We're massively increasing the testing to see whether you have it now and ramping up daily testing from 5,000 a day, to 10,000 to 25,000 and then up at 250,000," he said. Telegraph 19/03/2020.

Now we find out that 250 000 a day wont happen because the UK bought testing kits of a company, who bought them off someone else. Sounds like a right Del boy excuse. Johnson's winging it is costing the UK valuable time in testing for coronavirus. Why didn't Dyson or any of the other UK companies step in and start producing testing kits?

Because the testing kits are not mechanical or requiring the technology that Dyson Produces. It requires Pharmaceutical companies, of which we have many, but the kits have to work properly, unlike the crap that China is sending to Spain....

Am I alone in feeling a bit queasy with PL clubs using this Government wages scheme to pay their non playing staff?

Doesnt feel that was what it was meant for if I am honest.

I‘d be happy to pay the players up to a maximum of £2,500 per month though......

Is the goverment scheme not intended for any company to help pay their employees wages when their income is currently slowed down? What's the issue?

It's going to have massive implications. I agree. Without testing the governments coupled with other serious errors, we're always going to be playing catch-up.

There isn't a public appetite for a mortality rate in the millions. Dr Birx stated today that a figure of 200,000, would be regrettable but acceptable if everything goes to plan.

That's a figure that is unpalatable but may very well be necessary. When you are talking in the millions that's a different scenario entirely.
