Telegraph....

”Britain’s attempt to ramp up mass coronavirus testing has been dealt a blow after key components ordered from overseas were discovered to be contaminated with coronavirus, the Telegraph can disclose.

Laboratories across the country were on Monday warned to expect a delay after traces of the virus were detected in parts due for delivery in the coming days.”

I wonder where ’overseas’ was......

And the reason why UK companies haven't ramped up production of testing kits is?

Telegraph Pete.

Most people on here will see that as fake news.

In fairness most newspapers are so partisan these days I find myself questioning almost everything I read.

It would explain the delay in upping the number of tests though if the report is accurate

Another self important politician not following what is advised.

Stephen Kinnock MP targeted by police for visiting father, Neil

Good for him, as long as he followed social distancing and hygiene cannot see the harm, like to see anyone stopping me see my mother under similar circumstances... I would happily take the fine and give policing by consent the middle finger and all the sheeple who role over so easily!

Cant get a police officer out to a burglary shop lifting etc. However, they soon have enough check points harassing people, horrible curtain twitching nation we have become...

Supply demand and haggling over cost...

Johnson claimed 12 days ago that testing would be 'ramped up' from 5 000 tests a day, the to 10 000 then to 25 000 then to 250 000 a day.

"Boris Johnson says the Government is "ramping up testing" to attempt to treat a quarter of a million people a day, as he said the UK could "turn the tide" on coronavirus in 12 weeks.
The Prime Minister said the first UK patient had entered a clinical trial for treatment of coronavirus, and the Government was hoping to invest in a new "antibody test" for the disease that would allow it to test more people.
"We're massively increasing the testing to see whether you have it now and ramping up daily testing from 5,000 a day, to 10,000 to 25,000 and then up at 250,000," he said. Telegraph 19/03/2020.

Now we find out that 250 000 a day wont happen because the UK bought testing kits of a company, who bought them off someone else. Sounds like a right Del boy excuse. Johnson's winging it is costing the UK valuable time in testing for coronavirus. Why didn't Dyson or any of the other UK companies step in and start producing testing kits?

I'd be really, really interested when these antibody testing kits become available.

'An antibody test can detect if a person has had the coronavirus before and has since recovered. The test, carried out by a device that pricks your finger for blood, works this out by testing your blood for coronavirus antibodies to see if they have already beaten the virus and gained some immunity to it. It can do this in about 15 minutes.'

These are going to be available in the next few days from Boots and Amazon apparently - could completely change the ball game. Reckon you'll see a mad increase in the number of people who've actually had it and recovered.
