not having a go but hopefully when this is all over people will re evaluate their lives
Do we need the second car ,does it have to be a range rover.
Do we need 3 foreign holidays a year
Do we need to keep up with the Jones
Do we need takeaways and meals out 3 times a week
maybe people will realise that we can get by on a lot less.
I have 300 euro burning a hole in my pocket every week now that i cant go out and socialise.
I had 3 holidays booked ,easter June July probably all gone
Will I survive without them ,yes.
One thing I know .this pandemic has given me a fresh outlook on whats important in life
Im having more takeaways now than ever

No point trying to push this onto people; I tried and got accused of being sanctimonious and a hater of those that enjoy life.

So they move out...

I'm carrying on paying my rent at the moment because I'm on 80% wages but if I suddenly had no income I'd have to move out and find another solution.

Edit: Also if you're spending £2k p/m on rent and it's not a castle you need to sort yourself out.
live in Dublin where the work is and you would change your attitude
2k get you a 2 bed 2 bath apt of about 70 sq metres

That's the issue here, untold millions of people are affected by this and being TOLD to stay home. How are they to blame for not having any incomes to pay for rent? And, by the same logic, it's not the landlords fault that their tennants can't pay them because they are told. It's really impossible for me to even grasp much less have a decent opinion of what can be done.
Evidently there is a Facebook page for Landlords of 10,000 to fight , and outline this problem some brewery Landlords are honoring the deal, some are being rats......

It's probably going to do the opposite though

All those people that normally sit at home scratching their hoop and scrolling through Facebook might actually go outside and enjoy a local restaurant, or watch a film in the cinema

This pandemic will definitely give people a new outlook on life - and it won't be squirrelling your money away until you die in a sad little care home whilst your kids fight over their inheritance

Need to lay off their fear mongering to score political points.

I argued weeks ago that a bi-partisan emergency government should be set up to deal with this crises. It's unprecedented. Whatever your political colours, it's irrelevant. Everybody has to join together to beat this. It's absurd to think otherwise.

But let's not attempt to gain political capitol in a tragedy. Unfortunately some folks can't see the wood for the trees.

if it helps since I’m presuming you didn’t agree with the quote being from the ‘guardian‘

  • He said: 'In some parts of the country the police have been trying to stop people from doing things like travelling to take exercise in the open country which are not contrary to the regulations'
  • Last week the National Police Chiefs' Council told forces to take a 'consistent' approach to enforcement

  • That’s from the DM

Tell you what, with no going out, no eating out, no takeaways I have saved an absolute fortune the last 3 weeks.

I've got time to cook decent stuff for us because i'm not knackered when I get home, i don't have to get up at 6 in the morning. I'm not stressed about work, I'm not pissed off because I have to go there every day. We spend more time together and I've got time and energy to do stuff I actually want to.

It's boss this.

Police are just a very easy target as usual - All the love for the NHS and none for the Police
Used to do inductions days for training Police officers into Mental Health, absolutely refuse to do it for couple of years now to many work experiences of it being a waste of time . They are far to political and will drop other services right in it, and section 136, absolute joke...
And most other public sector have now gotten good press conferences and are media savvy which they really don't like ...

But for those that spend frivolously normally might be more careful when they realise hard times are sometimes just around the corner?
