Ideally it would be good if they can get to a position where an Autumn booster is required rather than six monthly boosters.

If they do six monthly boosters, there'll be more pushback, even from people who have had the jabs. People will start questioning it. Because it'd never end.

A yearly booster along with the flu jab - that's how it'll have to be sold to people.

And we need answers from China. Fat chance of that like.

Okay, absolute sucker for anyone who's paid all that money, possibly travelled a long way, all the cost of that, to then be turned away on the door?

Who's responsible for refunding people?

Why should people be doing that if they've been vaccinated? They've done their bit. What about all the people they've been in contact with on the way to said venue?

It's madness mate. I am playing devil's advocate btw, but it's madness.
In Germany it’s either or. Show proof of vaccination or otherwise a negative test done in the last 24 hours. Not perfect and will not detect every positive case but will reduce risk overall and allow hospitality to continue.

Is the message getting through at all to your patients and are you seeing a rise in vaccination?

Know at the start there was very little data for pregnant/seeking to be pregnant about the relative risks so difficult decision but now data pretty overwhelming.
When I say I've seen ITU staff collect momento boxes to give to the children of unvaccinated pregnant women whom have died of covid, they generally do.
I'd crap myself about bad asthmatics get flu pneumonia and needing HDU/ITU care in the past- I'm almost blasé about walking into ITU to see patients these days, it's such a common occurence- I hate it.

Blimey.

Cases down here have gone absolutely ape. No idea if its cos the 40000 false neg tests have just been lobbed into the figures, (wouldnt surprise me), as positives, but masks and SD have been pretty much observed ever since the restrictions were lifted.

I don't understand mate, you buy your ticket with the full knowledge that this is the case or a requirement its informed choice. So no one is responsible, its part of the terms and conditions.

Why should people do it? 1. To keep themselves safe - vaccinated people can still get Covid 2. Reassure themselves where they are going the risk is minimal 3.. To provide an environment where others are safe, 4. To provide a safeguard to keep an industry open. 4. Break the chain of infection. 5, Viable strategy to live with Covid.

That's the point people aren't on their way there unless they have a valid QR code. the antigen test cert last 24 hours so in reality your taking it before you get there. Again not one thing is a silver bullet, like this , masks, vaccines etc - they are all part of a larger strategy of managing risk and living with covid.

We're back to that thinking that just because you have the vaccine your grand. People "have done their bit" - that's really silly, people are ultimately protecting themselves not doing any one a favor.

This isn't pie in the sky its happening in most European countries.

Agree that Pfizer et al will have pound/dollar signs in their eyes and big grins but tbf there does seem to be clinical evidence of the need for boosters this winter, especially for certain groups.

Israel wasn’t even in winter and their booster rollout made a huge difference to both their cases and hospitalizations.

No absolutely i just mean they will say they need to be forever, their only responsibility is to their shareholders so they will never say we're done!

Oh... German curve is as bad as us.

Not really working

As an aside, why do people keep saying things like “fear mongering” when discussing what is actually going on?

If a thousand people plus a week (after periods when a thousand people a day) were losing their lives to terrorism, on the roads, at sea, after spraying themselves with perfume they’d found or after eating bacon rolls everyone would be demanding action.
Because the information doesn't match up to reality.

Saying say 6000 with covid in hospital sounds scary by itself. If you told 50 million vaccinated people that 6000 unvaccinated people were in hospital with covid, it changes the message entirely.

Saying record high 49 thousand cases, as high as X time again sounds like it's completely out of control. Saying 49000 cases but most of them are extremely mild because the people are vaccinated, not quite the same devastating headline.

This is the same press that drum people into panic over toilet rolls and petrol because it makes a good headline.

Making information out of context sound as bad as possible is the problem. As I honestly believe , the vaccination works as intended and throwing figures out now 50 million in without the context is the definition of fear mongering, causing fear with misleading information.

The reason for them doing it? Honestly don't think it's sinister, just a negative reflection on western culture now.
