Because the information doesn't match up to reality.

Saying say 6000 with covid in hospital sounds scary by itself. If you told 50 million vaccinated people that 6000 unvaccinated people were in hospital with covid, it changes the message entirely.

Saying record high 49 thousand cases, as high as X time again sounds like it's completely out of control. Saying 49000 cases but most of them are extremely mild because the people are vaccinated, not quite the same devastating headline.

This is the same press that drum people into panic over toilet rolls and petrol because it makes a good headline.

Making information out of context sound as bad as possible is the problem. As I honestly believe , the vaccination works as intended and throwing figures out now 50 million in without the context is the definition of fear mongering, causing fear with misleading information.

The reason for them doing it? Honestly don't think it's sinister, just a negative reflection on western culture now.

The Media exist purely for clickbait now. No one buys newspapers anymore so if they can get people clicking their websites and retweeting their news stories then its more £££ for them.

Honestly shocked that the majority haven't cottoned on to it by now.

Not really. 6000 people in hospital with COVID is scary, whether they are (and many of them are) vaccinated or not - that many beds taken up with these patients affects all of us, given that we all might need that health system. Thats 6000 beds not available if you have an accident at work, if your kids or your parents get ill, if a train crashes or if loads of people catch flu.

Then you have the number of cases - yes, many of those positive tests are for vaccinated people who will get it easy. However that is still 49000 people (per day, lets not forget) who can conceivably pass it on to their family, friends, colleagues at work, strangers on the bus or in the pub, who could concievably then pass it on (and so on and so forth). Its the fact that this disease is still spreading so easily that means it is gradually finding out the vulnerable in our population - the unvaccinated, the elderly, the unlucky; the result is many of those people suffering needless and agonizing deaths.

Finally though you have the context argument. What we are seeing now comes after two waves of genuine horror that saw more than 150000 people die in this country from this disease, and there is not a great deal of evidence to say that the government has learned anything from those two waves. Loads of people whose job it is to know are currently sounding the alarm that the government have to do something now before it is too late. That is the context of some of these reports.

Hospital figures - 133 deaths were announced today, down 1 on both yesterday and last Thursday. 88 deaths were in English hospitals, down 1 on yesterday and down 3 on last week. The 7 day rolling average falls to an even 110

All settings - for the 28 day cut off, 115 deaths were announced today, down 64 on yesterday and down 42 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 129.36

For the 60 day cut off, 144 deaths were announced today, down 71 on yesterday and down 47 on last Thursday. The 7 day rolling average falls to 155.43

It’s a good point this, and I’d add to it by pointing out that I’d read that the average Covid patient is in hospital for 14 days, so for those needing a planned operation which would require a couple of days stay, 7 of those planned operations get pushed back. A huge impact.

A new study led by the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), an institution supported by “la Caixa” Foundation, provides robust evidence that COVID-19 is a seasonal infection linked to low temperatures and humidity, much like seasonal influenza. The results, published in Nature Computational Science, also support the considerable contribution of airborne SARS-CoV-2 transmission and the need to shift to measures that promote “air hygiene”.

I don't understand mate, you buy your ticket with the full knowledge that this is the case or a requirement its informed choice. So no one is responsible, its part of the terms and conditions.

Why should people do it? 1. To keep themselves safe - vaccinated people can still get Covid 2. Reassure themselves where they are going the risk is minimal 3.. To provide an environment where others are safe, 4. To provide a safeguard to keep an industry open. 4. Break the chain of infection. 5, Viable strategy to live with Covid.

That's the point people aren't on their way there unless they have a valid QR code. the antigen test cert last 24 hours so in reality your taking it before you get there. Again not one thing is a silver bullet, like this , masks, vaccines etc - they are all part of a larger strategy of managing risk and living with covid.

We're back to that thinking that just because you have the vaccine your grand. People "have done their bit" - that's really silly, people are ultimately protecting themselves not doing any one a favor.

This isn't pie in the sky its happening in most European countries.

Well I suppose that's the issue. Are people gonna bother if all those stipulations are in place?

Vaccinated people can still get COVID, but if the thing that actually allows you to do stuff is an antigen test, not the vaccines, then what's the point in getting a vaccine (if you're one of those people who isn't arsed about your own safety and would only get a vaccine if it gives you freedom etc)

Basically mate, there's no solution that doesn't create a lot of issues
