Genuinely worried about my children in school who live in poverty. Details aren’t clear, but statemented children with EHCPs (of which there aren’t many) and those with social care involvement may still be able to access school, but in my experience, they often aren’t the most vulnerable. We know who the vulnerable kids are; the ones living in poverty and going under the radar.

I’ll tell you what is despicable certain companies , relatively big but independent, laying off stay even those who’ve been there for a while to avoid wages and protect themselves and their financial positions and I’m sure then try and rehire them in the future .

Completely at odds with that open letter from lunya and lots of other small companies struggling to loyally protect staff .

Will parents welfare payments be increased now that they have to feed their children all day?
Could be a lot of hungry children
Children who receive free school meals will be given a voucher. Not sure where it can be spent and assume it’s for the same price as a free school meal. £2.20 per day. Could be wrong, though.

It`s getting worse by the day, my missus has just come in and said the latest " in" thing to panic buy is shampoo, as there`s no hand gels or soap, people are stock piling it to use it as regular soap.

I`m really starting to understand why people say " f*** it all " and go and live in the wilderness.
It’s going to get to the point where things will be rationed. People are just selfish pricks. I saw people bring actual suitcases to the supermarket earlier.

I have them the benefit of the doubt and assumed food bank or something but honestly, with some of the things I’ve seen. It’s ridiculous.

Sorry I have a brain and use common sense and logic to judge what's most dangerous to me at any one point in time. Cars have prob killed more people in every country that have cases Covid19, since the outbreak began., should we all run and hide in our homes from vehicles for the foreseeable future too? many things can kill me, excuse me for not being arsed so far about this, one day I may share your opinion.

No, but we have laws in place about speeding, dangerous driving, seat belts, drink-driving, using mobile while driving and a hundred other measures to reduce road deaths.

This is a new virus, which no-one has immunity to, seems highly contagious and there is no vaccine.

Hence measures put in place to stop the spread to limit the impact. Common sense and logic.

Yes they have. But I fail to see how letting thousands of elderly and vulnerable people die from disease is made okay by road death statistics.

Your thought process has no grounds in common sense. I'm going to quote myself here, because you're a prime example of what I mean

I swear that historically unprecedented access to huge quantities information is now rendering people completely unable to deal with problems on their own merits

Oh I know it's getting there mate.

My point all along has been it should have been ready to go weeks ago. Same with every country in Europe.

They've all failed us by being ill-prepared - and I say that knowing full well this is unprecedented too mate.

But yes, when these tests come it will be a big step. Just wish it had been done sooner because it really should have been foreseen, surely?

WHO said there’s no need to close border and restrict Chinese traveller and downplaying the severity of the situation in China on a daily basis. you’d wonder why.
