the fact that we have internet in full speed makes things worse, it is like the plague or WW2 days but you hear and read everything, brain cannot process it and gives 404. At least if this was 100 years ago I would have minded my business in my yard, reading and working, just checking radio few times a day. disasters/outbreaks in globalised world for you.
Stop doing it mate.Just dip in and dip out.I come in here all cheerful and if I find I am getting a little down by it all.I walk away for a few hours.I cook, clean or create something to do that didn't need doing FFS lol. There is a song by Heather small called Proud.I listen to it EVERYDAY at the end of the day.I then look back and realize what I have achieved to make me feel proud. It dosen't have to be a big thing it's all about your own well being. This is how I deal with things anyway (and a few beers)

The fatality rate of 1% doesn’t seem that bad, but this thing is showing no signs of stopping soon, and the death toll could be in the hundreds of thousands by the summer with millions infected.

I'm not trying to dismiss it mate, just saying that tweets like that are misleading and likely to drive unwarranted panic.

1% of 1 million is still 10,000 people - this would kill around 400,000 people in this country alone with a 60-70% infection rate. It's no joke. But - and it's a big but - that still means 99% of people who catch this thing will recover, and that includes 99.9% of people under the age of 60.

Perspective is needed.

It will be that high.

Regardless of any measures taken, it is going to be that high.

It's horrid but it's too late to do anything other than keep it as low as possible.

If there ends up being 35m in the UK infected (half the population) – that's still 350,000 deaths.

What doesn't add up? Virus, spreading rapidly over continents, killing people = pandemic.

That's all you need to know.
No mate 9 deaths in the north west all with underlying illnesses they could've died from anyway, for me this just doesn't equate to an almost lockdown, and reaction like there has been.

On ITV news Today they used a clip from Scrubs a fictional TV programme to show how easy viruses can spread... talk about whipping people into a frenzy.
Excuse me for having my tinfoil hat on and questioning everything they're telling us but for me not much about this so called Pandemic adds up.

Thanks mate, I was sick of this onslaught of misinformation from the world's medical experts but thank god bignev23 of GOT has cut through the noise

One of the big questions I have about closing schools is how will the already poor families who rely on free school meals cope?

There's a school in my area with ~60 kids out isolating, they've had parents calling in asking if they can come pick up their kids' meals because they simply can't afford to pay for another meal every day.

Universal Basic Income for 3 months is the answer.

What do you mean so called? It's a pandemic at this point.

Agree. We’ve acted too late, and the figures that are getting published are only confirmed cases, how many people don’t know they have it yet and are carrying on as normal? If everyone just sits tight and listens to device given then we could (Hope) to have it under control in a few months. The aftermath of this is going to take years to get over it.

People seem to think the warm weather will be a good thing.

As someone with respiratory issues I can say the warm weather can have a severe impact on my ability to breath properly.
